Kidd was probably trying to give away Monroe to pels maybe for Anderson?

Would have been nice

Milwaukee still has tradable assets though. Sure... it's been a disappointing season. Can we stress patience more in sports? Regardless of Zaza's amazing season through five months, etc., this is still a team with Giannis, Jabari (we'll see, getting his legs back), and yeah let's just write off Vaughn already. That's level-headed.

I get that Mayo and Bayless are not to be depended on. Yet, the team - long-term - is not in complete shambles, and we have to stop pretending Monroe is a worthy scapegoat.

Am I wrong, or did this whole phenomenon of players getting bought out after the trade deadline only become a thing in like the last few years? I can't remembering it happening much, if at all, prior to like the last 4-5 years. Before that, the only time I remember a team getting a player of note very late in the season was when the Bulls signed Bison Dele (RiP)

Could care less about the game but curious if anyone know's why these screen's variate from illegal screens, NBA ruled them legal. Verticality kinds of skeptical on this one

Earliest mid-season buyout I can remember was Tim Thomas to the Suns in 2006.

I'm sure there were earlier buyouts. There's usually one or two every year.

Edit:

Tim Thomas in 2006.
Jim Jackson in 2007.
Ilgauskas/Mike Finley in 2010.
Fisher in 2011.
Big Baby/Caron Butler/Birdman in 2014.
Amare/Perkins in 2015.
Lee/Varejao/JJ in 2016

Nah, it's been a thing. I know Tim Thomas has been bought out twice by the Bulls I think, something around 10 years ago, and the other maybe 5-6 years ago. A notable one off the top of my head was when the Magic bought out Penny after he and Ariza were traded from the Knicks to the Magic for Stevie Franchise.

Heat are a decent team for Jj. Not like anybody from the east is gonna win **** anyway. Miami gives the dubs a hard time at least.

I think the Cavs are definitely beatable, it's just the East field is somehow really improved and less likely to field a team that could threaten the Cavs. Toronto seriously could beat them, the Demarre Carroll signing hasn't even factored in yet and people see Korver doing terrible and don't go further than that when talking about why the Hawks fell off aside from a few injuries. I mean, Carroll is one of the most underrated players in the game. Defensively and long-range shooting ability.

semi related but, I never understood why people get jealous and hate of their peers/classmates success. I meet up with old classmates and its all "he/she really fell off" or "what she/he's doing isn't that impressive"

That's interesting. I guess it varies by groups of people and maybe even generationally. My current friends are generally are my high school friends and we're not judgmental like that when it comes to old classmates. We give props to the people who are doing well - even if we didn't really like them in HS and don't talk down about the people who aren't. I think that's why my 20th high school reunion, which happened a couple years go, was so fun. Was super chill and people were genuinely interested in finding out what everyone was up to.

And lakersman.

I mean this question sincerely.
No stones being tossed, no sarcasm being displayed.

But with this logic,
Doesn't it mean if someone for example was a thief, arsonist, criminal, drug dealer, whatever for 15 years... Putting their families life at risk over and over again, not to mention damaging other people's properties and well being... That he should continue to stay one until the day he dies? Should we not want him to pay his debt to society, change, and be a better human being out of it? Should we not expect for him to learn some humanity and genuinely change his ways?

I'm not comparing this example to Kobe in any shape or form. I'm just talking about the "if you're something then stay something all the way through" logic. That theory has a lot of outliers doesn't it? If that was the case then none of us would ever deserve 2nd chances in life.

We don't know whether or not someone's genuinely become a better person or not. We don't know if they've become genuinely humbled or not.

We can "assume" or "guess" that its fake, but who are we as human beings to tell other people to stay "the villain" their whole life instead of wanting to be "the hero" along the way?

Even LeBron got tired of playing the villain. He couldn't make it past a few years, hence the "I'm going home" letter. Was that not fake? was it real? Who know right? We have our opinions but at the end of the day we'll never really know with certainty what was on lebrons mind.

And we'll never know whether Kobe genuinely feels bad for those burned bridges. BUT, if he does, then why would we criticize him for having regret and remorse and genuinely trying to make amends for his past transgressions? I mean, it doesn't erase the bad things he's done, I'm not saying it deserves forgiveness. No.

But I don't think saying "f your sorry, stay an *** hole because that's what you've always been" exactly gets us anywhere in this world either.

#1. Did Kobe apologize for being an a-hole for all these years? If we're going to have a discussion on accepting someone's apology or being a jerk and saying 'Nah, f your apology', let's make sure we're discussing someone who apologized. Did he?

#2. Even without an apology, did he show any sort of remorse or contrition? Words hold a lot of weight, but I can ride with someone who WAS mean af and then maybe had some life-changing event and now they're nice af. But that's different than being a jerk today and for the last 17 years, and literally tomorrow you just start faking the funk, smiling and telling jokes and what not.

There has been no change in anything other than the charade of a farewell tour.

well to be fair, our class is 5 years removed from HS so its at a period of some people still being in college and others moving on to their careers. So there's still a bit of "how is THAT guy doing better than me?"

I like Joe in Miami.

Better than Cleveland where he would just stand there and be a shooter.

Khris Middleton. My man is a relative unknown, but has gotten better and better every season and does a little bit of everything. That Bucks squad could come up nicely with the youngin's continuing to get better.

My Classmates / peers are the exact same way, and it's cringeworthy tbh

Everyone is in such competition with each other that they judge each other's early 20's due to their innate inferiority complexes and fear that their lives isn't where they feel it should be. Always tell people life isn't a competition and everyone moves at their own pace.

Everyone in life should be more like @Hot Route tbh
