Steph IS

People KNOW that STEPH is

Which is why he shouldn't have been given such a clean look

Because players aren't conditioned to guard 30 foot jumpers man

Normal people don't make those kind of shots!

Never in your life have you ever had to guard a guy crossing half court. It goes against everything we've been taught as basketball players

How does that make the Big O right? I need more explanation. Could Oscar easily hit a 30 footer? Even if he walked into it? I think not.

@ DCAllAmerican, exactly! The press was non existent. That's what Big O was saying.

Big O is saying these guys are too comfortable shooting the ball. This game had many going under screens (too much spacing) and not enough press. No one is knocking Steph's ability to shoot.

That excuse was valid 3 years ago.

Not in 2016.

So many extremes in here laugh.gif. Just reminds me why I don't frequent this thread like I used to. I love watching Steph. Best shooter I've ever seen but you can't put him on no damn GOAT list yet.

MJ, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Kobe, LeBron. He's not in that group yet. Maybe he'll get there but right now... Chill out.

38 actually. That's the conundrum with guarding Steph. From a basketball standpoint, trying to lock up a good shooter/ballhandler at half court is stupid. He's just gonna blow by you and pull up at the line or go to the rim.

But with Steph, he's comfortable everywhere inside half court. So if you DON'T try to lock up... He's pulling from back there. There really is no correct way to guard him. Just hope for the best. If you guard him, you're either going to get killed or hell make the right pass. If you dont guard him... Splash

Trying to guard Steph that far, you are gonna get burned and the defense is gonna end up scrambling to cover the open man, leaving someone else one.

Pick your poison.

Maybe,

But it really has nothing to do with the distance of the shot in my eyes.

Whether its steph, Kobe, Jordan, whoever, when it's 6 seconds left on the clock I don't agree with allowing them to coast up the floor and get the shot that they want.

Steph skews things a bit because of his ridiculous shot selection, but in those circumstances you don't want him (or any great player) to walk into any shot.

The thought of Steph ruining kids basketball development is hilarious to me. Like suddenly.. NOW kids are going to want to shoot 3s. Kids have been 3 point crazy since I can remember.

A few flashy crossovers and jacking a 3 was the norm by half the kids I grew up playing basketball with.

But, the time was winding down. We aren't talking about a regular half court situation

But his handle is elite and he can create a shot for either himself or someone else if you press up. There was nothing Roberson could have done in that situation

Steph playing the way he does proves what you just said.

The whole damn NBA is 3 Ball crzy

Lol for all those saying curry is the GOAT with any kind of seriousness, please remember or learn that Mike was scoring more ppg (35+) a season consistently while taking was less three point shots.

Also for those saying Roberson n others should hound dude at half court line, smh come on now. Have you played organized ball on a high level? You are not accustomed to going out that far on an island risking to be beat off dribble with no help man. Plus you can't get too close to dude bc he will pull and make it a 4 point situation.

Most defensive coaches teach that you drop down in defense mode when someone is out that far n contain n basically let them have that shot because it's such a low percentage shot but Steph might change all that now, smh

Elite handle used in that situation means time is ticking away.

Make him put the ball on the floor FORREAL, and make a play for somewhere else.

Again, he should have been picked up sooner

Bad turnover by KD good D by warriors..Should have never gotten to OT..I admit Steph is good for modern NBA...Hard to compare era's..The rules favor his skill set..

Stephs impact is far greater than raw ppg and assists numbers man. The numbers don't tell the whole story. He has no weaknesses on the offense end

Makes no sense. No defender worth their salt is going to try and lock up and elite player on a fast break at half court. It's suicide. The smart play is to lock down around the 3 and inside so you don't leave the rest of your team scrambling to rotate after you get murdered out in the open water
