It's said that they play harder now.

I suppose. And on average the players are bigger and more athletic, which would make the physical impact of each game more significant. Still, I find it strange that injuries rates are increasing when training techniques and travel method are superior to what they used to be.

I feel like it was a much more physically demanding game 10-20 years ago when there were so many more handchecks and bugs that would punish you if you went into the paint.

To counter that, the defenses and offenses are more intricate and the skill sets are probably more advanced today. To go along with Ldoggs point of players about of today.
So that may contribute to the NBA being tougher to play in, in its current form.

People are just too young to remember Yao and they neglect the Rockets. The Rockets of today are made up with garbage guys and are less impressive fools that disgrace the franchie. Gone are the Mobley, Franchise, Yao, Whittaker Flapping Eye TMAC days. Yao is definitely a HOF. He was a pioneer and even though China took his money, he still played!! He abused a lot of bigs, got crossed over plenty of times, but had dropped numerous silk road jumpahs on guys. He even did a crounching tiger, hidden dragon on Shaq. Shaq and Yao were neck in neck, with Yao potentially being up there.

Giant tall dudes like Dirk, Porzingus and any over sized youth proally had Yaos poster in their clear binder behind Shaq. Why? Cuz Yao could shoot for a big man. Its just sad, they dont wanna recognize him.

I hear how bigs wanna be versatile and shoot like Dirk, but no one wants to be fat like Shaq.

He was the brucelee of basketball.
Garbage guys and disgrace today, but then you mention extremely talented underachievers. Some would say that's a disgrace as well.

And I'm still trying to figure out how either are in your argument to justify Yao being in the HOF.
dude calls Harden trash then follows up with Cuttino. damn

If yao gets in, sabonis should get in

Yao get in Spree should get in.

Just disrespectful

Yao probably gets in the Basketball HOF, but not NBA HOF. NBA HOF would take in consideration his ambassador stuff and simple speculation of career trajectory had it not been for injury.

ThunderCat and Paul already took care of that other mess HotRoute was talking about

yeah . his play wasnt deserving of hall of fame status. i saw all of yaos career. im  far from a young dude.

i hope iverson makes it to the hall of fame... he accomplished a lot in his short career... just wish he could of stayed in the league longer and was still in his prime

hope. iverson is in for sure and i never enjoyed seeing him play nor was i a fan of his . no discussion on iverson.

a 8 year career of 19 and no rings will not get you in the HOF...idc about all the skills you talking bout. Now could Yao hoop? hell yea but hes not one of the greats. nope.
Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley didn't win a ring either. Your Argument is invalid if you put championship Ring as a requirement to be a HoF.
Yao was a deserved allstar and in todays soft nba league he would be even better unless the coach only wants to play small ball.

In Toronto with ESPN Radio, Kevin Durant addressed the possibility of signing a short-term contract this summer to, in essence, delay his free agency one year and put himself on the same track with teammate Russell Westbrook. "Actually that's probably one of the first times I've heard that one, but, no , I haven't really thought about it, man. I'm just, with [coming back from] injury and just getting back to playing again, I haven't thought about contracts or free agency or none of that stuff at all. ... I really haven't thought about that one. I guess I have to."Marc Stein

Some Warriors Think They'll Sign Kevin Durant In Free Agency

The Golden State Warriors are considered the most likely destination for Kevin Durant should he leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in the offseason.

"He is definitely not out of Oklahoma City. If they win it this year, most likely he stays.

"There are people in Golden State who think they're getting him. There are people in management and I think some players too. Kevin Durant likes the way they play. He likes their style, he likes the fact they play unselfishly. He sees himself fitting into that group."

Broussard says Durant's attraction to the Warriors goes beyond just improving his odds of winning a championship and to the way the Warriors play the game.

"'This is the style I'd like to play for the rest of my career,'" said Broussard in an attempt to illustrate Durant's thinking.

It would be blashphemy not to have him in the HoF. He was the shortest dominant player. He was fearless and his crossovers deadly.
The only downside of him was that he ballhoged and wasn't that great from outside. Still he has a career scoring average of over 26ppg.

Still surprised at how much of a mess the Rockets are.

 @ Dwight saying "We have to stay positive". This dude still don't get it. Houston shoulda been the perfect spot for him. Kobe was right.

im saying he didnt put up enough numbers without a ring to make it in. now im not saying Yao wasnt nice bc he was real as hell but he just didnt do it long enough.

dude played 8 years...hes the same as Terrell Davis for the Broncos but TD accomplished more.

Malone, Ewing, Barkley are all time greats. Some of the best ever at their positions. Yao isn't. Based on ON THE COURT. Yao is not a HOFer.

yo when i was younger and he was at Gtown and his first couple years in Philly i was a hugh fan...then i got older and realized how his game really was, and was immediately turned off.

So this is what passes for journalism now.

" 'I'm going to golden state' - kevin durant "
- chris Broussard

Anything for a story

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that it is the BASKETBALL Hall of Fame, not the NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION Hall of Fame?

If you are one of the people that DOES understand that, then you shouldn't be saying that Yao doesnt deserve to be in it.  He absolutely does and will.

That's why I said ON THE COURT.

I really think that some NBA players can careless about being an ALL STAR...

I don't know about that. That's like saying they don't care about their stats.

yea i was talking NBA not basketball.

HOF arguments in general are tired, but NBA I don't even bother talking about. All this ambassador, pioneer, trend setting stuff...It doesn't appeal to me.
