More insanity.

It doesn't matter if MJ's game doesn't extend out to the 3.

You don't list the skills and whoever has more is better, some skills are more destructive than others. Jordan was a Dirk level midrange jump shooter doesnt matter if he doesn't shoot 3's.
I agree some skills are more effective than others, but if IMO I can't see MJ as the better scorer. Kobe had more in his arsenal.
exactly, I dont think we will ever see another player who can and will get buckets in any way possible like kobe did

dude tore his shoulder and would end up missing the rest of the season but he came out of a time out and threw in a shot with his left hand

no one comes close to being able to take and make the level of difficulty of kobe's shots.

I see what the next ten years of NT is going to be like now

Instead of Kobe vs. Lebron or MJ vs. Kobe or Lebron comparisons

We're going to get Curry vs ___

or Could Curry dominate in the 90s, 80s, etc.

defensive rating is basic division its not hocus pocus its a fact. it was easier to score.

the 01 rules weren't really even fully modern yet, teams didn't really exploit it until Thibbadue style zone principles became in vogue after the celtic championship thats like 05.

I get your point but I really don't trust defensive stats. You can play flawless defense and your man goes off for 40. Or you can leave a dude wide open or otherwise not really bother him and some stat says you locked him up when really he was just off. The only thing you can gather is that defensive rating in the 90's was lower than it is now. That's the only "fact", the rest is up for interpretation.

as long as people stop caring about that overrated fraud

I don't think Kobe took tougher shots. They may have looked tougher compared to MJ. But like I said before, MJ's game looked much smoother.

I can somewhat agree with this. I've always thought a big difference kobe and Mike is that kobe made the game look difficult. Like when you watch mj you feel like you can run in the backyard and pull off all his moves. With kobe it's like...I'm gonna need to practice for a couple hours first.

I think kobe did take/make tougher shots tho, it's just his dna. I've seen so many times where he'll play a basic game in the first half and be shooting 50, 60+% from the field. Then he'll come out in the second half and start taking all these wtf type shots and finish the game at 45%. He lived for the highlight reel.

Vince carter had the best arsenal of circus shots around the rim next to mj tho

MJ knew how to make his shot attempts easier for himself

When Kobe was at his best, he was just really good at taking and making tough shots

It's amazing to watch. Out of nowhere he'll bump the QB thread with a Russ/Tanne article and then vanish.

No I wasn't trying to troll this time.

I just enjoy talking about the historical aspect of the NBA. Realistically only 4-6 teams matter and all are just playing for fun. That's why I very rarely chime in about some random team like Pistons.

I enjoy most all aspects of the NFL thread besides the live posting part.

kobe would always catch the ball with space to shoot, wait for the defender to close out, then shoot it anyways

I would say MJ is better around the rim though

Kobe/VC/Tmac are the last generation of guards who would frequently try to dunk on shotblockers in halfcourt sets. we just dont see it happen much anymore

^Exactly. Veteran MJ has some games that are just straight up boring to watch. Just getting to his sweet spots and running the same moves time after time, not taking any risks. Kg was like that. Kg's game is just as boring as tim duncan imo, if not moreso. Like really bruh...you're just gonna do the same 3 moves your whole career huh.
