PF/C is who we call bigs. So he's a big? Yeah, he's a big GUY, 7 feet. But staying away from the basket as much as he does, he's a big?

Y'all trying to reduce Timmy to a Participation Award because he doesn't perfectly fit the PF mild... to protect a guy who doesn't, either.

Dirk has been one of the best and most efficient post scorers in the league for a decade. he does his work in the mid post and high post. He may catch with his back to the basket but he's doing his damage by facing up. Hakeem faced up a lot too.

Dirk ain't out here just hoisting catch and shoot jumpers

Yes, he could outscore Timmy in his sleep. And Timmy could out 'complete game' Dirk.

You posted from 01-07. Leaving out 4 full years where I'm sure the numbers overwhelmingly have tim as a PF. He accomplished almost as much as KG & Dirk did from 97-03 than they did in their whole careers. And Tim was undoubtly a PF at that time.

No knock on Dirk (one of my favorites) and KG. They are in the convo.

Tim played the first leg of his career majority as a PF. In that time period...he accomplished a lot, and enough to put him as the goat PF. pimp.gif.

One things for sure, those two guys are one of a kind bigs. Something that we wont see ever again in a long time.

Move Timmy to the 5 so we can call Dirk the GPFOAT? Nah, move Timmy to the 5 and move Dirk's post-allergies to the 3, then.

Can't call him the GSFOAT, because Bird and Bron.

And now we're right back where we started with Duncan and Yao: trying to shift things around to big up someone who doesn't fit as is.

This is like posting Kidd 3-balls as a rebuttal to the fact that he wasn't a great 3-point shooter.

Ska you're wilding thinking Dirk is out here not posting up. I mean, his signature shot is of him working the iron leg out of the mid post.

This should help jog your memory some.
You're baffling me.

Played with a torn labrum for three years?

u should blame AD for trying hard to fit in. if he doesnt know his body, its his own damn fault.

dudes out here taking extra items to get bulky and to sleeve their arms with tattoos for aesthetics. but cells are cells. u cant force it, but u can numb ur senses and over work ur muscle fibers, which seems to be the case.

gotta be confortabe in your own skin and not worry.

Yea I have an extremely difficult time labeling Dirk as the best PF ever because of ONE good run.

Borderline blasphemous when he wasn't a great defender not rebounder at that spot when we've had other PFs who rebounded & defended at a high level while also being great scorers.

And he was a fantastic scorer...... who was routinely either slowed down or taken completely out of the game by smaller players every season except one.

Nah, man.

My cape is activated.

One legendary run. A run where he destroyed 7 future hall of famers. Also he's never played alongside another all NBA player in their prime.

Sure he's not a great rebounder but he's a career 25-10 guy in the playoffs. Only other players to do so are like Hakeem, KAJ, and Malone.

And he's been tearing apart SFs for almost a decade. That's like slandering Kobe for poor playoff performances early in his career.

No, Dirk isn't a defender. No argument there. But he's 37 and still looks like he's got multiple seasons left. KG has been a camp counselor for a few years. Malone was a laker. Tim Duncan is a center. Barkley didn't have the title or the longevity
laugh.gif I respect it.

I'll give you LA. but against OKC he was being checked by a 21 year old Ibaka, Perk coming off a torn ACL, a 22 year old Durant, & Nick Collison. Hardly murderer's row. He saw Miami in the next round & had several ugly shooting nights in that series where Tyson's D on Bosh & Trix's D on Bron were every bit as important as the shots Dirk were putting up. He had 3 games in that series where he shot in the 30%'s. That series was far from a clinic for him.

And he had been in the league almost a decade when Posey & later Jackson/Barnes were tormenting him. That didn't happen "early in his career" at all. He was an MVP player by that point.

And his longevity has been amazing. I can't knock it at all.

And Duncan spent SIGNIFICANT time at the 4. I'm not gonna ignore his versatility & strictly label him a 5.

I posted from 00-07. He was undoubtedly a 5 in 06-07 (championship year, all NBA, all defense playing center but listed at pf), 07-08 and every year after. That's as far back as the numbers go and only missing 3 years, Tim was drafted in 97.

Doing the math from 00-01 to 06-07 he spent about 10,955 minutes at the 4 and 8,962 at the 5, a 55/45% split for PF/C. 52/48% if you include 07-08

Fact is, he wouldn't have as many accolades for his career if he was listed at his true position.
