2015-2016 NBA Regular Season - MDA to HOU - All-NBA - Harden snubbed - Anthony Davis is broke - Page 2493

@ill steelo

KG wasn't a slouch by any means. I don't mean to call him Ben Wallace or anything. But he wasn't Dirk on the offensive end. He had one post 2nd round appearance in Minnesota and it was clear what he was best at in Boston. And as stated before, son didn't want any part of the ball in late game situations. To me, he's more of a 2nd option than a first, but a great defender. No shame in being the Scottie pippen of PFs

I like Miami at 3. JJ has given Miami a shot in the arm. Josh Richardson also, to a lesser extent. He's given them much needed 3 point shooting & athleticism. Both of them have been fantastic. 4-6 you could flip a coin man laugh.gif

None of these teams are gonna win the title, but the 4/5 & 3/6 matchups in round 1 are gonna be pretty entertaining. None of the teams are head & shoulders above the other.

I'm really hoping that Chicago/Toronto match up in round 1 just to see if Toronto is really gonna lose in round 1 AGAIN laugh.gif

Positions are just titles in the NBA.

Like Kyrie is considered a PG but plays like SG.

Lebron being considered a SF although he basically was a PG early in his career and played PF a lot with the Heat.

It doesn't matter if some dudes think Duncan isn't a PF, he's considered one to the general public, media and history books.

If you want to change that, better get into the history book business.

The Duncan slander is crazy! Dude is legit one of the best big men ever. Kg was filthy in his prime. People slurp on Anthony Davis, but imo KG was a lot better than him at the same age without college

KG, Like Dirk and Duncan are once in a generation players. I'm from Dallas and I remember when dirk was first drafted and how everybody in the city hated him. He wasn't trash by any means, but at the time the whole city thought Don Nelson was smoking crack to draft an unheard of foreigner that high. Fast forward 20 years and I'd say Don was right. Dirk improved in to a top 15-20ish player of all time

kg stopped being nice around what year? he lost the fire in 2012 against the heat?

so that was after 16-17 seasons of being straight savage? when did dirk come in? 98. first season was butt. 2nd was better. 3rd he found his stride. then progressively got better and better. so you're looking at 16 savage seasons for him and 2 decent and 1 garbage.

You don't see the contradiction here? That's the whole argument. Duncan listed as a 4 but he plays like and actually is a 5

Fair point. Although, and I'll argue this to my grave laugh.gif , I only liked his '04 cast.

'99 (his first 20/10 season) they had to play the Spurs, '00 they had Portland, '01 the Spurs again, '03 the Lakers. They could've been more competitive in '02, no argument there. '04 he led a run before Shaq/Kobe stopped him.

Looking at his Minny runs as a whole, I'm not sure what more he could've done. He just wasn't working with enough. I'll always feel like he was a #1 option, but I can't fault your point of view either.

KG's 03-04 season was one of the best seasons I've seen from anybody. 24, 14 and 5. AND a beast on defense.

Yeah He really didn't have enough pieces. The West was so stacked back then.

Shaq/Kobe
CWebb/Bibby/ Peja and a deep bench
Duncan/David and a deep Roster
Dirk/Finley/Nash

KG's best chance in Minnesota was when they had Sam and Spree and they ran into... Shaq and Kobe in the WCF.

I think he was living under a rock. Miami played plenty of smallball with LeBron at the 4 and Bosh at the 5. And had great success doing it.
Lebron at the 4 was part of the closing lineups in Miami and is it was dominant.

Doing the math from 00-01 to 06-07 he spent about 10,955 minutes at the 4 and 8,962 at the 5, a 55/45% split for PF/C. 52/48% if you include 07-08

Fact is, he wouldn't have as many accolades for his career if he was listed at his true position.

The numbers would be more than a 60/40 split if you included 97-00. So Tim Duncan spent the prime of his career as a PF....In which he won 4 chips, 2 MVPs, 3 finals MVPs etc etc.

And you really think Tim wouldn't have had as many accolades if he was listed at C? Thats ludicrous.

Y'all wanting to list Tim as a Center is just an attempt to discredit his legacy. Call him what you can't. You can't take away anything from what he's done in his career.

Same as when dudes try to say Tim isn't that great because he never repeated laugh.gif.
