You're probably right and I might do it if I were Mitch, but you gotta put some serious thought into bringing in that type of randomness while handing him major responsibility. Especially when you got a bunch of kids to develop at the same time.
I'd just put in some serious research before I throw him the max at 12:01. Like knowing every little detail the past 2 seasons about dude and what's really good behind closed doors. I gotta know what I might be getting myself into.
Being at that age with his skillset on the open market clearly demands a max contract, I just feel like the chances of dude finally letting out his inner Bynum increases tenfold if he rolls with the current LA situation.

Hypothetical, but let's say both Horford and Whiteside want to go to LA.
Horford's deal might be bad in year 4 or whatever, but at least you know exactly what you're getting out of him, and there's no fear he'd set back the kids' development if it all turns to ****. Not as impactful as Whiteside, not nearly as risky either.
The current Lakeshow structure just ain't the best fit IMO.
