So, you're building your team around Draymond if he's top 10 and not a elite role player playing with a superstar? This will only set him up for people to start calling him overrated, overpaid and say he "sucks" because they were expecting him to the best player on the floor for that team every night.

This is why Marc Gasol is starting to become the scapegoat in Memphis. Everyone expects him to be Shaq and dominate a basketball game offensively, when he's not that guy. That doesn't make him an elite player. He just needs to play with a superstar, so the elite skills he does have will overshadow his inability to be a dominant scorer. Pau Gasol years ago was the same. Bosh in Toronto. All of these guys who had elite skillsets that had the unfortunate case of being called "a #1" went through this. Draymond just never had to go through it with Steph and sometimes Klay around.

Imagine if Draymond went to the Celtics this offseason. You think he's putting that team over the top?

Yeah, but my point is that even having a general ranking is hard, because we don't know how Draymond would do in a leadership role that Wall has currently. They both do a good job at their own roles though. I would rather have Top 10s in positions than Top 10 in general.

This is common sense, which is why this is a subjective matter and forever will be. You will never have an apples to apples comparison.

People tend to trend players with 20/20 hindsight. You find these topics all too often on ESPN and sports radio.

Wall done took his team to the playoffs and won two series as a #1 option. That's hardly a "losing squad". Wall out here putting up 20/10 with a starting lineup that reads:

PG: Wall
SG: Temple
SF: Oubre
PF: Dudley
C: Gortat

No Wall slander will be tolerated.

But I see your point as Dray being a more "valuable" 2nd or 3rd option than Wall is as a #1 option.

Very possible if he plays the same ROLE. That's the key word. Green would be a upgrade over Otto for sure.

that's what wiz really need. someone to fill that dinner roll. green's game wouldn't change if he played on any other team. he is that versatile with different elite skill set. he makes guys better

Draymond to the Celtics? 

Man, that pick n roll or pick and pop game would be lethal. 

That team is already a good defensive team and adding Green, it'll be better. 

Isiah Thomas and Green pick and roll/pop, would give teams problem along with some Turner/Green pick and pop/roll. 

Green is probably the best at the screen setting and rolling off and making the best decision.
 
what makes kawhi so special, besdies his defense, and his newly acquired 3 pt shooting?


what are we basing our judgements on when we decide a player should be the franchise and the one you build around? the one that scores the most? passes the most? if jimmy butler is a good player, but not a real leader, is he still the franchise player? the one you build around? is it based on mental strengths as much as physical ability?

But Blake Griffin averages over 5 assist a game while scoring 23 a night and their assist percentage is identical. Naturally, one would think that if you're averaging over 10 more ppg while still creating for teammates at the rate that blake does then yes he is a better playmaker.

Draymond is a better 3 point shooter. But that's it. Draymond is a below average midrange shooter while blake until very recently was above league average.
