2015-2016 NBA Regular Season - MDA to HOU - All-NBA - Harden snubbed - Anthony Davis is broke

Don't know why people are debating the McHale firing so hard. Even if you don't think the Rockets roster is good enough to win a title, 4-7 with several blow-out losses was unacceptable for that team and something clearly needed to change. Firing a coach is the fastest and easiest way to shake things up. Just how it is.
QFT.  Boston game was the final straw.  Went from up 17 to down by 29.  McHale had to go.  Likely more changes coming.

My 2cents,

OKC won't win it all. Will definitely not win it at all if Lebron is in the Finals.

They have NOBODY to hold Lebron.

Durant can't hold Lebron and yet, still score on the other side.

Westbrook, no.. Waiters? no. Roberson? no. Ibaka? no.

To win in the finals, you need that ONE premier elite on-ball defender to hold the best player on the other team.

Harden back to OKC? lol jk

but one last thing....it doesn't even seem the slight bit interesting to you cats that Rick Carlisle stays competitive REGARDLESS of who's on his roster?

or that Pop has a random guy emerge every year in some way? Guys who have played on other teams and gotten mins but are less productive?

None of that even seems....interesting?

Do yall think a level past that or look at them and say "they got some good DNA"?

Pop and Carslisle are two of the best coaches in the NBA.

Those guys don't grow on trees man. Idk why you keep trying to compare Pop and McHale. Can the rockets be better with a better coach, well duh. Absolutely.

Were the Rockets struggling thru "3 long hard years" because of McHale? Nope. It's really simple.

I get what you've been trying to say, but I just have to tell you you're flat out wrong. I've easily watched 70+ Rockets games a season for yeeears, and can tell you EXACTLY how things have gone on here, both good and bad. McHale's not at all 100% of the blame, as I've constantly questioned simple effort (especially with this season so far), but I can tell you regardless of upset wins, convincing wins, or embarrassing losses, McHale was gonna be a glass ceiling over this team. You can't reach the ultimate goal of a title without a coach that can actually draw up real life plays. We gonna forget Jeremy Lin was drawing up plays several times here with McHale standing right there? I'm embarrassed that people even have the sentiments they do about McHale. I haven't watched a bunch of MDA, Scott Brooks, or Byron Scott games, but I'm also not totally clueless about their coaching styles like an alarming # of people in this thread are. Barely making adjustments, being out coached, burying younger players to the bench for lengthy periods after even the most minute mistakes, and even keeping players in games that clearly should be pulled are staples of McHale's coaching, regardless of who is on the roster. Those are facts that well-informed Rockets fans know and general common sense having NBA fans should also know. Facts, not highlights from vine, and not surface box scores. There's nothing else you or anyone else with the same sentiments can say about that, cause like before, it would still be incorrect.

Put Collison on Lebron and the thunder win

Unless the coach is great (Popovich, Carlise) or actively harmful (Scott, Shaw) I feel like most coaches won't effect games during the regular season. However, that stuff comes to light in the playoffs where every little thing matters.

btw, i only keep using Pop and Carlisle because those are two coaches whose teams have been on TV a lot. There are definitely others. Who succeed in things McHale fail at. (and fail at what McHale succeeds at) Like I said before, you don't have to have coaches as great as they are to simply use some of the things they do.

does Budenholzer ring a 'coach not as good as Pop but borrows from Pop' bell ?

NEWS OF THE MORNING

LeBron: Cavs aren’t as ‘hungry’ as Warriors

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has tried a few manners of button-pushing to motivate his squad in 2015-16. He’s apparently added another one to his list. After last night’s loss to the Detroit Pistons, a game that the Cavs led by five points with 3 minutes, 49 seconds left, James wasn’t happy the performance. He looked across the conference divide at the Golden State Warriors (who would win last night to move to 12-0) and draw some comparisons between his defending East champs and the defending-champion Warriors. Joe Vardon of the Northeast Ohio Media Group has more:

“We haven’t done anything,” James said, following the Cavaliers’ 104-99 loss to the Detroit Pistons, Cleveland’s second-consecutive loss and third this season. “We didn’t win anything. We lost. We lost in the Finals. So, that’s enough motivation for myself. I think we need to understand that.

Like, we lost in the Finals. We didn’t win. And the team that beat us looks more hungry than we are. So it shouldn’t be that way.”

Coach David Blatt piled on Tuesday night, saying that the Cavs “need to toughen up.” The Cavs blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter with poor defense, shooting, and turnovers down the stretch.

“I didn’t think we displayed the kind of toughness that made us a team last year,” Blatt said. “I didn’t see that the last two games and we need to toughen up. Every aspect.”

James agreed, adding: “We’re too relaxed and too nice.”

“It’s not always about being Iron Man,” James said. “It’s a mental toughness as well. Going out and doing your job, doing it at a high level and preparing that way before the tip even happens. So, we got some guys who’ll do it and some guys that don’t do it consistently enough.”

On Saturday, James questioned the Cavs’ effort level, calling it “half ***” at times.

Without naming names, James is accusing some teammates of a sense of entitlement, held over from reaching the Finals last season and returning the entire nucleus from that team.

“We shouldn’t feel entitled,” he said. “That’s what I continue to say. We’re not entitled to a win. We’re not entitled to being the Eastern Conference Champions. That’s last year. It’s a totally different year and until we figure that out, we’re going to continue to put ourselves in positions to lose basketball games.”

#Magic.

Bron the most entitled player in the ene'ba tho..

Why didn't he touch on his own choke job and turnovers in crunch time last night? He hand picked every player on the roster, soooo they're not acting right? your bad.

warriors are too nice. deep talent, athletic, young, unselfish, great team chemistry and championship experience. OKC has the bodies to match up but when you see them play you dont know what to expect from game to game.

is it me or does derozen have 0 moves on offense? aside from a quick first step and athleticism he relies heavily on contested jumpers. unimpressed with the raptors last night, now thats a team that could benefit from a better coach.

Don't dispute anything you said, but it does make me even more infuriated that the Clippers choked against the Rockets in the playoffs last year, when Doc is supposedly one of the better coaches in the NBA and McHale . . . isn't. So, thanks for that.

Checks calendar says 2015 not 2012, looks at Bron shooting 33% outside the paint...

the lowkey struggle without the new message notification is real. got so spoiled with that.

Damn not by text. Only firing I can think of that's worse is Lane Kiffin on the tarmac at LAX

Don't know which coach it was,I think it was Rob Chuzinski, but they ended up finding out through text and social media before they were contacted
