Here's the thing tho, and maybe I'm wrong, but what Ainge says publicly, isn't always what he's truly tryin to do, ya know? :nerd:

"We aren't tanking". We just blow every 4th quarter lead we can.

That said, Ainge tried to land Winslow at 9, but MJ just had to have Frank Kaminsky. (?????). That's a setback for him, sure, but not anything he can't overcome.

I know they only #3 like a week, but they are trending up, as their youth develops. Those other teams, older, with more injuries, etc.

He has a gaggle of picks + cap space + elite coach, and already a playoff team, and a proven track record. Strong place to be.

I hear your example like 33 and 45 for 12. Doesn't happen, I get that. But they can be thrown in for say, 27. Or, stashed overseas. (Spurs MO). Clearly they have less value, but not no value.

Probably going to lock this up in a few hours, btw.

Soon as I see Hart or Drake, that will be a cease and desist for even remotely serious basketball discussion, so we'll put the clamps on this for a few days.

 Was just going to ask when the lockdown would take effect. Start of the celebrity game seems to make senses, though I only reluctantly acknowledge its part of ASW.

Ska is going to lock this thread until the all-star game is over. That way there's not two NBA discussion threads going on at the same time.

It'll also save this thread from a few thousand replies, which might help it from collapsing later in the season like what happened that one time.

yall think yao deserve hof status. Or just off his popularity he might get in.

i dont think he deserve to.

Has the the truhoops article about how the players are too tired been discussed yet? If not... Thoughts?

Here's the link:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14757066/nba-schedule-breaking-players

Its interesting to see some actual science behind the idea that the NBA schedule includes too many games. It makes me wonder though why there were seemingly fewer major injuries during periods in the past when travel was more difficult and they sometimes played as many as three games in three nights.

Simple solution to players being too tired:  Stop playing them so much.

Steph doesn't complain about getting tired because his team is able to put away games early. If LeBron and co were more efficient and spent money on better pieces instead of TT and Mozgov then maybe he would have some time to rest.

Just like changing the FT rules to benefit a few players, if the majority of the league can get by and some superstars can't because they're playing too much then they can go kick rocks and take smaller contracts so maybe they don't have to carry their team.

I don't disagree. But when the Spurs sat their players in the past, stern fined them $250k.

the average basketball fans should know the guidelines to HOF induction

with that knowledge, idk how the average basketball fan could possibly make the case that Yao isn't HOF worthy really.

That was for a nationally televised game, and I don't think that should've been fined. Just like "basketball reasons". But all in all, the NBA does a way better job than the NFL at keeping their league controlled and I wouldn't doubt something against back to back games.

Yao is easy hall of fame. He popularized basketball in the most populous country in the world.
