Once you hit NikeTalk legend status like this guy, you don't even notice when reps vanish.

why would the Grizzlies want Chalmers when they can have Jose Calderon for a protected 2035 2nd round pick?

man you guys think i'm a homer. i'm probably the most logical grizz fan you will meet

people in this city truly think the grizz just need a "shooter" without recognizing the real issue. our offense simply cannot evolve with both TA and Zbo starting (more so Zbo due to his high usage). we also cannot evolve until we get conley more help somehow. the city loves TA and Zbo so much that they fail to realize how their weaknesses and inefficiencies are hurting the team. :x

I think it's because ZBO and Allen have been the identity of the team over all these years. I'm sure you'll deny that in 3, 2, 1...

well, people loved zbo because of 2011. what he did by putting the team on his back was amazing. its well deserved, but the fact that he's still being the focal point of our offense is ridiculous. it should've stopped 2 years ago. TA started the "grit n grind" era and that's fine. he's great as a role player, but the fact that a role player means THAT much to our success is telling. TA is the kinda player you need on a championship contending team, but he shouldn't be one your top 3-4 players. we desperately need to find a guy to pair with conley and marc this year.

@ESPNSteinLine:
No trade imminent yet, I'm told, but sources say that the Grizzlies and Heat have discussed a potential Chalmers-to-Memphis swap

Interesting...for who? :nerd:
Too late for this, when the window was open they needed a backup point guard and kept continuing to put trash behind Conley. Now that the window is closed you want to upgrade that postion now? Get Hollinger and his Analytics all the way out of here.

I don't disagree with this or the other post, more so saying I understand why Grizz fans would feel the way they do. Getting rid of those two would change the entire identity of the team. Change can be scary especially  when you're in win now mode. What are you gonna get by trading them way that could help you win now

well the thing is....i understand the FO wanted to build a winning culture here. people don't look at the grizz anymore and say "oh they suck" or "they will be an easy out". they now have a culture and its considered a winning culture over the last 4-5 years when before they were the laughing stock of the league. i understand it could be a scary change, but this is where the grizz stand right now....

we keep the team together this year and after next season, TA and ZBO contracts are up....marc is much older and a probably maxed out conley is in his 30's. grizz don't own their pick (even though its heavily protected throughout certain years) for the next 3-4 years. as of now, the grizz don't have any tradeable assets outside of conley, TA and marc. in 2 years, they still will not have any tradeable assets, no young players that can possibly breakout because the young guys we have don't play, and the younger teams out west with young stars are much, much better than us.

so, what's worse? having an old team with no assets and missing the playoffs in a year or two OR a team with rebuilding assets and can hopefully cut the rebuilding phase to about 2-3 years if we strike luck in the draft or through the assets we get via trade? that's where i am with this squad. i felt like we had several opportunities to go deep into the playoffs in years' past, but a combination of injuries and not enough perimeter help stopped us. now, zbo looks terrible, marc is now maxed out coming off a career year (bound to regress a little) and then you have conley. i just think the way management handled the roster and our picks over the last few years have been terrible. luckily, the core itself was good enough to make us a threat.

I think their window is closed. They just don't have it/haven't had it in them to beat elite teams 4 times in 7.

Z-Bo will get healthy tonight if they start Gay at the 4 though

i don't know if you guys remember or not, but the year marc got hurt and we were outside of the playoffs, i wanted us to chalk that year up as a loss. we could've tanked and possibly ended up with a decent enough lottery pick to add a piece to the core (the 2013-14 season). we ended up losing in the 1st round to OKC (probably could've won but zbo got suspended), but who's to say we would've went any further than that if we did?

if we tank that year, we have a shot at getting a productive player or at least packaging that pick with a player to bring in a more valuable asset to the core. but, we didn't.

oh and instead of moving koufos at the deadline for a 1st round pick in the 20's, we just let him expire without getting any return. the FO talked about how bad they wanted bobby portis, tyus jones or RHJ, but they could've had one of them if they traded koufos away for them. but, we felt koufos playing 10 minutes per game in the playoffs were more important.

Mark Medina @MarkG_Medina 1m
Nuggets PG Emmanuel Mudiay told me it's "definitely a motivation" the Lakers drafted Russell instead of him bit.ly/1OmxRhP

portis & marc :x

He's regular season numbers are decent but his playoff numbers, where the game matters, are on another level. Eye test and modern analytics all agree.
