3 match ups tonight. Lakers may get the only win.

Nets vs Lakers
Pistons vs Suns
Hawks vs Pelicans

Pels about to be 0-5 after tonight. Maybe a tad early, but I think they need to go ahead and embrace the tank for this season. Clearly, that roster is not built to go anywhere long term. Best outcome for this season for them would be to secure another top 5 pick to play alongside AD.

 the East ain't caught up yet. Thunder and Rockets just got off to bad starts. Detroit and Toronto got off to good starts.

We ALL KNOW that Toronto and Detroit will come back to earth and aren't real threats.

They caught up in a sense. You could honestly say the bottom of the West playoff teams would have washed 6 of the 8 East playoff teams last season.

That won't happen this year. Spurs have no chance at ending up 7th again. West isn't that strong.

Thunder just have problems closing.. Each of those 3 Ls the thunder were in it at the end and started doing dumb things

Not to take anything away from those teams because harden, derozan and rose all came up big.. But the thunder didn't help themselves

The Thunder have the same problem they've had for the past 3-5 years now--Coaching

All they had to do was hang on to Noel. Guy was the #1 rated prospect all year & fell right into their lap. ACL injury is concerning but that's literally been his only issue in his whole life, unlike someone like Oden or Brandon Roy. Sit him out the year & monitor the rehab so he doesn't develop any new muscle imbalances. Swing for the damn fences. But nah, lets trade him for this guy

He had the potential to have more of an impact than Holiday & any other average to above average PG out there.

Draft Noel, sit him out that first year, get another very very high pick & go from there.

The only thing that makes me scratch my head is Pat Ewing. Does he not want to be a head coach? He paid his dues on and off court. It's not a race thing because Kidd and Fish got jobs right away.

There is a Center bias in the NBA. Big man bias really.

Kevin McHale is the only big man coach in the NBA.

I think there's a problem with their D

They don't have a defensive specialist

They have Robersom to replace Thabo

Waiters and Westbrook don't have the composure to run plays down the stetch and control the game.

The end of close thunder games is always hero ball from Westbrook and KD

Theres a bias for PGs as coach

Because they more familiar with running plays and the overall game

Teams hire assistants to help coach big men with footwork, posting up, boxing out, Etc

The Pelicans also gave up the pick that became Elfrid Payton in the Noel trade too.

Interesting article: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...aches-examining-a-sudden-silent-disappearance

Its we well written article, but I don't know that its accurate to say that black head coaches are disappearing from the NBA.

You got -

Doc, who is also the GM for the Clippers.
Byron
Fish
J-Kidd
Gentry
Casey
Hoillins
Sam Mitchell (granted, he's only the HC now because Flipped passed, but still)

When you consider that there are only 30 NBA head coaching jobs available, 8/30 doesn't seem that terrible to me and doesn't suggest black coaches are disappearing.
