Skiles set the single-game assist record in an era of inflated assists, and he did it against Paul Westhead's insane 1990-91 Nuggets team that literally played no defense. They averaged 120 points per game and gave up an average of 131 ppg (the next highest was 115). Their pace was 113.7. The next highest was 103.6. To compare, last season's pace leader was Golden State at 98.3.
