They announced it in August, but the story a few weeks ago did not give me a lot of hope. It was said that there were complications and his body wasn't handling it well. So they might have caught it later than they led on and once they announced he wouldn't return this year, that it was pretty much a sign that things had took a real turn for the worse.

A damn shame. 60 is still way too young and he'll be sorely missed.

Yeah. I forget who the reporter was who got the scoop from the family, but it basically had the tone of Flip only having a few weeks, maybe a month left. There was nothing positive in the report whatsoever.

R.I.P. Flip

Also, in honor of Flip, I felt like posting this again (sorry, don't know how to embed).

My mom texted me while at work. I just stood there and became sad. Not being home in Mpls sucks. And not being there for the opener to celebrate Flip's life. I've said loudly how I didn't want him to coach but being President and future owner I was cool with.

That KG pics hurts!

Plus when you look at this team it has Flip's finger prints all over it. I feel bad for his family. And I feel bad for Flip. There was a video of when they got the number one pick on lottery night :smh: I don't think there was anyone who was more excited for the future of this franchise.

R.I.P. Flip and all my prayers go to your family during this time.
To one Minnesotan to another thank you for being apart of my life. And I'm sure all Wolves fan like myself thanks you for the memories.

On the surface I could see Schroeder in Utah. It would work well. As a fan of like to see it.

I've grown fond of Burke as a backup and would rather have him backup Schroeder than Exum, but don't see Jazz getting rid of their 1st round with the "upside" he is said to have

starburymarbury My heart and all of my love goes out to Flip Saunders Family as your leader leaves this earth in the flesh. His spirit lives in the present as we speak. In 1996 Flip became a father figure and my first #NBA coach. Wow how fast time blows by. Our conversations were so meaningful in ways that helped me understand the game of life by explaining the game of basketball. Your kind soul and loving ways helped me understand how to play the most important position in the sport of basketball. You gave me not only the chance to perform at a high level but a chance to communicate my thoughts on the game. You taught me how to play the pick and roll but you also taught me how to pick up and roll with the good and bad in the life. As a rookie we had so many conversations in such a short time period. You said "The point guard has to be the extension to the coach" These words lived inside of me as I've had my share of ups and downs with coaches. I guess when I left you I went on a journey to end up with a similar coach 7,000 miles away. I thank you for giving me my foundation in how to play the professional way. I thank you for giving me unconditional love as if I was your son when I was so young. It was so needed as KG and I needed all of it to get where we are now. What an impact you've had on so many humans on earth. What a father you've been to your children as I can remember Ryan aka RyeKnow when he was a little boy. We will miss you as a piece of your children's hearts have been taken but we will celebrate you forever. Thank God that love is the most powerful thing to give and receive. The love from all will be shared to help the healing process from the pain of your flesh not being present. I know you will RIP because you did all of what you did on earth in your lifeline. I say #FlipForever as we all grow from your teachings and messages. I LOVE YOU and I'll miss you until we meet again. #LoveisLove
P.S As for your amazing Wife Debbie and girls Mindy, Rachel, and Kimberly thank you for sharing your dad with all the people who's lives your dad touched. I can feel your pain because I know your love for your dad. I pray for peace in your heart.

That could work, but I'm not sure Hinkie is willing to fork over the assets/money for him.

But I always expected next season to be the season where Hinkie had to put a competitive team on the floor, so yeah.

I like Nik Stauskas and Pierre Jackson. Wroten can be a useful bench player.

I think they'd do anything to get rid of Burke, who is trash.

I get where Schroeder is coming from, but there was no need for him to say something publicly. I sure Hawks management had to know how he felt. Like when the Clippers had Bledsoe and he started to come into his own. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before he got moved because he would only be content to be CP3's back up for so long. Just too bad all Doc got for Bledsoe was basically one sub-par year from Jared Dudley. :rolleyes

The Hawks should be able to get more value in return for Schroeder.

Dennis Schroder is not the first professional athlete who's said he wants an increased role.

Not sure what the big deal is here.
