There was a very vocal bunch leading up to the draft saying that Mudiay was always better than Russell, since High School and the USA Summit Games. The bunch were not Laker fans mind you, but guys like awwsome and maybe Osh? were all saying that Mudiay was the clear better choice and player

D.Russell has the type of face you want to punch. And his stupid hair and his eyebrow shaving doesn't help. Im glad the Lakers drafted him and I'm glad NT has already turned on him.

I'm not just talking on here. I'm saying collectively. Social media, analysts, sites, etc.

There wasn't some overwhelming notion that the lakers should have taken Mudiay. That didn't take off until summer league when Mudiay impressed and Russell didn't.


It's revisionist history at its finest.

True, on here the vocal bunch made it a point that the consensus/analysts was buying into one year of college (Russell) and China (Mudiay) way too much

They made it a point to say that out of sight out of mind in the case of Mudiay. They also pointed out that anytime Russell faced decent competition in college, his production suffered tremendously and he struggled

Boogie would be great in DC but they really have no way to acquire him. Kings probably wouldn't pick up that phone call unless the Wizards offer Wall.

Which would defeat the entire purpose of getting boogie.
 
In regards to the Russell vs Okafor/Mudiay pick, also have to take into account team fit. Obviously you take the best player when you can, but Okafor and Mudiay weren't as good fits as Russell.
