sager just said exactly what i thought. tim duncan not playing isnt a big deal at all. should be a fast paced game and spurs would have to match up playing small ball.

27/11/3/1/1 on the season. Best center in the league by far.

Kevin Durant on Kristaps Porzingis:

"When they made the pick, I texted [Knicks head coach Derek Fisher] immediately and said 'I like this kid, he can play.' A lot of people were down on him, but he can play. He's a skill guy and I think we've gotten away from enjoying skill players in this league. We get so many players that are athletic and big and strong, but he's a skilled player."

Porzingis was drafted fourth overall in June.

"He can shoot, he can make the right plays, he can defend, he's a 7-footer that can shoot all the way out to the 3-point line," Durant said. "That's rare. And block shots, that's like, a unicorn in this league."

GS will win...I think pop won't show his hand tonight.

If they win it will be by their usual strategy. Pop always playing chess
 every coach does this

In 2011 for example Spoelstra didn't swarm Derrick Rose on those picks until the conference finals.

It's not chess if everyone does it

You don't beat the Warriors by trying to match up with their death lineup

Same way you couldn't beat Miami if you tried to match up with their lineups that had Bron/Bosh at the 4/5

this really hurts the Spurs

OKC Thunder starting guard, Andre Roberson, out at least 3 weeks for a right knee sprain after Westbrook fell into him trying to make a n impossible 360 switch to the left hand and come up under the other side of the rim after jumping from outside the paint layup instead of just dumping it off on an odd man break. Thunder say he'll be reevaluated after the 3 weeks (which usually means he'll be out for the season with them, you never know). Could be payback, because his knee broke Russ's face that one time.

Seems like he's an insignificant piece because of his lack of stats, but the Thunder's D falls way off without him in the lineup. Could start Waiters, but that leaves the bench with Payne as the only ballhandler, Morrow is ideal because of his shooting but obviously you lack the defense a Singler or Robes would provide. Not sure when Adams is expected back either, because Nick Collison is stealing money, Perkins style right now
Good. This forces the Thunder to play without him. They need that experience because he's gonna be unplayable against Popovich & Kerr. They're gonna give him the TA treatment by the 2nd quarter of the first game.
Enh.

Imo, they're cooked either way.

Nobody on the Thunder's perimeter plays D EXCEPT for Andre Roberson. Top 10 in DRPM at the 2 last year, and last I checked he's 3rd in DRPM at the 2 this year (and he was shootin' the 3 better from the corners as well). Historically, the majority of the Thunder's best lineups include Dre.

With increased time for Waiters (ugh), Morrow (it's a damn shame Waiters is gettin' the bulk of the minutes over this guy), Singler, and the rook Cameron Payne,

things ain't gonna be pretty defensively.

Regular season, or post.

The Thunder roster is rife with bad defenders. They're time without him isn't going to all of a sudden, make that personnel competent defensively. Furthermore, the presence of Enes Kanter makes almost every lineup untenable on defense.

They have to acquire better personnel.

Those stats are crazy and he should get the award but can you explain how the hell this Center averaged four turnovers this month? And I think he had a 10 turnover night somewhere in there. I've never seen a Center in consistantly in the top 10 in turnovers. Sometimes even top 5

it's not even like he averages many assists. Im blown away by this.
1: The offense runs through him

2: he passes the ball a lot

3: He's double/triple teamed most times he gets the ball

Never said they'd turn into a defensive juggernaut without him.

My point is, you don't want the playoffs to be the first time you're trying out a new starting five. And Roberson having his mins cut is inevitable.

He's not a TA level defender & when Pop/Kerr starts ignoring him, Billy D's hand will be forced. They need to figure things out without Roberson & his injury gives them an opportunity to do so.
