fans always get so much confidence because they think they have this invisible shield, like that glass at the zoo that separates them from the lions. They think they can just talk out the side of their necks with total disrespect. How you tell someone you respect them, but they won't be missed? you don't respect anything. gfy f-word/6 letters.

Respect has NOTHING to do with liking.

I've heard people that I respected but couldn't stand got fired, and my attitude was the same: "I respect you, but DEUCES!"

I might respect them because they're awesome parents but maybe can't stand them because they gossip, or maybe I respect them for their work with the homeless but can't stand them because they're bossy at work.

Ooorrrr... respect them because they have a strong work ethic but can't stand how egocentric and contrived they are.

Tons of examples of respecting someone that you're glad to see leave.

Settle down, Nancy. There's a lot worse things that fan (or any other) could have said about Kobe. Plus, that's that person's opinion. He won't miss Kobe. How you going to tell him that's wrong? Just because you worship the guy doesn't mean everyone has to.

And fans saying negative things to them is one of the things NBA players need to accept. It comes with the job. Yeah, there are lines that can be crossed, IMO, but that sign doesn't come close to that. Also, let's not act like you don't say disrespectful things about players other than Kobe on here all the time. Like, how many times have you called Blake and/or CP ***** boys or whatever? Those things are different and ok because you're at a computer rather than at a game? The fact is that sign wouldn't have bothered you at all if it wasn't about Kobe.
