2016 Houston Rockets Pre-Season Thread - Preseason Finale vs Spurs

Completely agree with this.

I'm still appalled at the simple lack of knowledge from other fanbases when it comes to McHale. People are acting like he is coming off a championship and was targeted and undermined. Not just an NT thing either, it just happens to be worse on here than anywhere else.

word. I'm sitting here lost at the general reaction. Like McHale is coming off a storied career

or like Morey's moves have had no part in our success, and conversely have had played a significant role in our failures

Morey's definitely played a huge part in the success of the team but make no mistake he's definitely feeling some big heat today.

You can't make a move like this and not get heat.

imo, this feels like less of a morey move and more of a les thing.

les seemed like a stone cold killer, morey looked pressed.

The only heat he needs to be worrying about is from the owner; but it sounds like Leslie ain't with the BS no more. Truth be told though Morey is a big reason this team was as good as it was. He equipped Mchale with more than enough talent; only to see it stuck on the bench or get big minutes one game and 0 the next.

Forreal..cats thinking he's gonna go to Minny and get more out of a team with less talent  FOH. He'll do what he's always done; he'll make them competitive but they won't get a title. Leslie wants that chip now.

I'm really curious if the McHale extension came from Morey or over his head from Les.

The extension made absolutly no sense at the time

Clutchfans exploding as Morey is officially on the HOT seat and his firing could be next.  That would be a massive mistake IMO.

@JinKazama made some points on that but I'm still wondering who. Leslie probably pissed he made a stupid decision & gave the extension but then they get deep in the playoffs and then this losing happens after good draft picks and the Lawson acquisition. They both gotta be stressed...

I simply can't believe Morey alone would extend Mchale then fire him this quick. I woulda been drawing up plays for him before I did that.

IF Morey did act alone he should be on the hot seat. Leslie didn't get to be rich by throwing his money away; so I'm quite sure he wouldn't have appreciated Morey doing that. If both of these decisions were strictly Morey's; Leslie probably has his desk pulled next to his in Toyota Center

 for real. But I won't lie, whoever is coaching those guys in like 5-6 years will have a nice squad on deck to coach with. I think Towns will be a superstar ( I think he will undoubtedly be better than Dwight), Wiggins a perennial all star, and Lavine a solid role player maybe better. Along with some of the other guys they got being solid role players (Dieng, Pek). If Rubio's resurgent start holds, they can be looking at a solid squad long term.

Team looks terrible right now, and they aren't trying to make anything easy for themselves. They could be right at the rim for a layup and will kick it out for a 3, regardless if the person is open or not

How does a professional team do this?

It took 45 from James again we need Ty to wake up

Forgot Ty was even on the team

This was one of the most Houston Rocket, or better yet, Houston sports game ever. Just when you think they've hit absolute rock bottom, look terribly miserable, and feel like they're left for dead, they come out with a win like this where they dig deep and show you exactly what they're capable of. It's mind boggling

They played like crap most of the game but I saw a lot of improvements over what they've done so far this season...

  1. They played harder than they have most of the season, but I think Leslie telling them they were all expendable if they didn't get their a** in gear prompted that.
  2. They didn't hang their heads once they got down 15 and give up, even though they weren't playing well. First time they've done that all season IMO. They kept fighting and got the W
  3. They changed offensive philosophy a bit...they made a real effort to play inside out rather than outside in. It didn't work last night until James got in the post, but I like the strategy. They gotta work on their post entry passes though. My lord it was like looking at a JV team trying to feed the ball to Dwight.
  4. They tried a lot more stuff with James off the ball, which I have been screaming for.
  5. They ran more set plays than they have all season last night. One of Mchales problems was he let the guys freelance too much IMO.
  6. They made an offensive adjustment on the fly :wow: when was the last time we saw that Rocket fans. Putting James on the post was brilliant and is a set they need keep in the playbook. Whenever James' shot is off JB needs to send him down there and let him go to work. He absolutely murdered them down there and opened up the offense to get open looks.

Honestly I like a lot of what JB tried to do last night and think it can work really well for this team. They just gotta get some continuity and get used to JB giving them less freedom on defense and offense. Jet playing PG is cool, but we all know he can't hang with the guards in the WCF; Ty needs to get it in gear and assume that role ASAP.

Heard last night they are gonna give JB the season to see if he's the man for the job. So we'll see. Hopefully this turns out like the when the Bulls fired Doug Collins after going to the ECF and let Phil take over

I think the last time I saw Harden in the post was the game Dwight that 3 against the Warriors and Casspi and Ronnie Brewer went nuts
