2016 Houston Rockets Pre-Season Thread - Preseason Finale vs Spurs

Really good win. I was bracing myself for a possible disappointment just cause as y'all have mentioned, they have letdowns after big games  Deinitely needed to get this win regardless cause we've lost the last 7 of 8 against them. everybody seemed engaged, Harden played only 33 minutes :smile:eek), Dwight was dominant, Thornton played and was a factor as usual, and both Bev and Ariza played solid defense even if their offense wasn't all there. The biggest thing was TJones playing like the player we consistently want. I'm not making much of a fuss though just cause he has a habit of doing this, and will disappear for the next 10 games. Back to back vs the Wolves tomorrow. Need to keep the momentum going.

You guys ish on T Jones far too often. Dude is solid when used properly. Hes not the issue in Houston

The Wolves are so damn lucky to have Wiggins and Towns after all that mess  that is atrocious

He's not the problem but he's not the solution either. Too inconsistent...plays smaller than his height...and has problems finishing at the rim against quality bigs.

I had a feeling the Rockets were gonna make this difficult, but glad they managed to win

Will update the thread later.

As far as TJones goes, he's just an anomaly. The last game he had reminds you of the potential he has, but then you look overall and he just never ascends on a consistent basis. More often than not, the TJones we see is getting stuffed at the rim cause he isn't going strong, taking a 3 when there's a clear lane, and awkwardly dribbling while we anticipate a turnover.

Ahhhhhh, so what we so tonight was a team that jumped out to a lead, face adversity, then fold. Dwight and Bev were the only one who seemed to show up. Every other person on the floor was either mediocre, or garbage, and Harden was a big part of that. The bench stink it up as well. And this was the more rested team. Trash effort, and now we have a road back to back against the Losers and the Clippers. Better turn it around.

I'm not sure what wheeling and dealing he can do that elevates the effort of this team. A Friday night, prime time against the top eastern team, and you put on THAT performance?? I personally know several Rockets fans that were fed up and left early.

damn, no offensive flow whatsoever… I think when theres no energy, JB should put Harrell and KJ in there to maybe spark something..

I don't think Harrell and KJ went in til late in the 4th :smh: :smh:

Lakers tonight. Would be great if this were a dominating rebound win.

Guys did what they were supposed to against a pathetic loser team like the Lakers. Guys got rest, and overall played well up and down the roster. A step up in class tomorrow though, even though we've beaten them the last two times, they've been on a streak. Let's end it and get a quality win to make up for wasting away during the Cavs game.

Time for Morey to start wheeling and dealing.

But I was told this was one of the most talented teams in the league. Sure a few teams could use a couple of our guys.

Let's face it Rocket fans...no whealing or dealing is getting a title this year. Morey needs to focus on next year. The team needs a makeover; they've gone as far as they can with this group. Everybody needs to be on the trade block except Harden, Howard, and maybe DMo. The offensive philosophy must change. Way less freelancing and more structured offense. This team has proven this year they don't have the decision making to be given that much freedom on the offensive end...make James get in the post, feed it to Dmo...DRIVE and kick out for the 3...James can only hold the ball for more than 5 seconds when the shot clock is running down. JB must go...like the guy...but they need to get every aspect of Mchale's style out of the building.

Would've been a very fitting comeback had they finished the job, but sucks they didn't. Weird game, as even when they got down 15, I wasn't on edge at all cause I felt like they'd come back, and it seems like both the Rockets and Clippers knew that as well. This game could've been put away with even adequate defense. And the missed FTs :x :x Really hate that this game was lost, cause Dwight had a monster gain that ended up being all for naught. What i do hope this does is to remind guys that all the good ball movement helps Dwight put up all these point, and that helps him get up to play good d and grab those boards. Thornton was clutch, and should be featured more often. Same with Harrell, who brought a lot of energy, then was never seen again. Thornton was heating up early, yet never saw the floor again until it was damn near too late. I wouldn't be surprised if Thornton gets shafted in the next game. It's like this whole staff's regime is ingrained with that mindset. Fired McHale, but apparently a bunch of the assistants are cool with that same style of play. Need to regroup after a loss like that.
