2016 Houston Rockets Pre-Season Thread - Preseason Finale vs Spurs

Well it looks like with Thibs on his way to the Wolves, we have found our first legitimate reason the Rockets should've missed the playoffs  :x now the next best choices are looking like JVG, Brooks, and Mark Jackson

Ehhhhhh.....

I like Thibs but if President and Coach were his requirements let him walk.

  • JVG...been there done that,
  • Brooks...he couldn't get a team led by KD, Russ, and Harden a NBA title coming out of the West. Why would we think he could get a team with just Harden any closer?
  • Jackson...this team would most definitely play hard nightly, but X's and O's weren't exactly Jackson's strong suit. Maybe if he got a bright offensive assistant to come with him.

Going to be interesting to see what happens...

So we should've misses the playoffs because Thibodeau is a sure thing?

Not a sure thing, just something to think about as to me as of right now, it would've been the only actual reason to miss the playoffs if we could have already signed him. Outside of that, I was 100% in support of the playoffs even against GSW

should be nice to have Adelman back with JVg as an assistant..pipe dreams… besides, our roster will be a whole lot different come next year

No Howard, Jones, Brewer

No Howard, Jones, Brewer, Smith, Terry, (DMo???)

Fixed, though i could see Terry as an assistant if he does have that coaching itch

JVG-Jackson tag team of coaching.
Ok maybe not but be interesting where we go.
But Jackson being JVG top guy would help Jackson but I doubt he wants anything less than his own team like the Kings/Lakers/who ever

Curry sitting out again. Let's see if the Rockets show some life at home and take advantage instead of embarrassing themselves and further letting the national media make them a joke

True...

great first half so far.. Hopefully we can hold on..Dwight playing like he actually cares

Ariza has taken about two shots early in the shot clock, we gotta eliminate those. He has to attack more instead of taking those threes

JBB is an idiot he should have been taking Howard out when they try to do the hack a Howard and the Warriors had a foul to give. Also Ariza is trash and why is T Jones and Brewer not playing?

put Howard back JBB wtfff

JBB may have gotten lucky on not putting in back in. MAYBE
like wtf :smh:
man we win by one point after being up most of the game smh
a win is a win regardless but damn rockets

For a team that went 41-41, this is the norm :smh:  they can never make anything easy. Up by 17, and they gradually start playing like the team that got mopped up they did in the first game. The team started missing easy shots, relying too much on the perimeter when they were being successful in the paint, and not playing defense :smile:eek). Once again they let randoms get shine. I won't call Livingston a random, but Clark and Speaights should never be THAT much of a factor. Ariza inbounding :x :x :x that was abysmal. He almost cost us the game TWICE.

You really want TJones in, when he's been pretty terrible all year ?? And Brewer?? You watched the previous games (correction, the regular season)? Brewer has been awful and thank God he wasn't on the court that long, or else we probably would've lost due to botched fast breaks and turnovers. Agree about Howard though, he shouldn't been out the game before 3:09.

Happy we won just to extend the series, it just wasn't all that encouraging. They need to find a way to have maximum effort for 48 minutes, Curry or no Curry.

Man I love DMo

that JVG + Mark Jackson could be interesting if true. At LEAST we know JVG is all about his defense.

Harden is gonna get scoliosis carrying this team

I was ready to come in here and say WE ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE, if we lost that game

Solid W, now let's get it done again Sunday :pimp:

What's crazy is no matter how far you are up on GSW it always feels like they are gonna come back. What's scarier is that GSW feels that way to...

IMO the Rockets didn't play that well (not enough pick and roll with Dwight, too many 3's) but they played hard. With Curry likely back for Game 4 they gotta bring the effort and the X's and O's Sunday to make this a series.

It's about self-confidence. The Warriors have that just like the mid 1990s Bulls or Millennium Lakers had.
Falling back with 15 points but still can comeback in the 4th quarter.
The Rockets not only need to play tough but be fearless.

The Warriors never pulled away until we just stopped caring. Dropped a chance to steal one.
Not that we were going anywhere.
It's this type of performance is why I didn't want to make the playoffs. No heart. Ugly. Clueless coaching. They just quit and you see it when they play.

still not convinced may know what it looks like when an NBA team actually quits. They're playing hard, but chess in a checkers game

This has nothing to do with Houston quitting or not, but NBA players and teams do quit.

It's not even done on purpose half of the time, but it's the half hearted jogging that a team does when they're going from offense to defense. It's the half hearted cuts they make throughout a set. Players a lot of times don't even realize they aren't giving 100% effort until you show them on film and ask the player if they are going as hard as they can.
