2016 Houston Rockets Pre-Season Thread - Preseason Finale vs Spurs

there was a play last night, where everyone literally looked to harden to tell people where to go, so they could run a play. he literally pointed out where dwight needed to be every step of the way, without dwight knowing what to do

^

btw, although I don't agree they're outright quitting on coaches....I would lowkey quit on these coaches "too".

In the locker-room like "TF we doing out here, man. how/why are you convinced this is a way to contend in the NBA? I can't get jiggy with this ****"

Basically  I'm still appalled at the rescuing people in the general media are doing for McHale and JBB, as if they skim highlights of Rockets games and read the first couple of RTs for info. Anybody who as been watching the Rockets throughout McHale and JBB's tenure, through both the winning and underachieving season, should know what the real deal is. There were even Wolves fans mentioning how they were there, but suddenly none of that exists and McHale was "done wrong" and JBB "walked into a lose-lose situation"

I mean if you guys are fine with guys quitting on their coaches & teammates then why complain when things go wrong.

Harden is a great player in this league but at this stage of his career he's very flawed. He's need help (something I've mentioned for about 3 seasons now) but I also recognize the player he is. We need guys to cover his flaws.

last night barkley said "it wouldn't be fun to play with harden. ariza used to be one of the best 3 point shooters in the league, and now he's one of the worst because he just can't get into a rhythm because he doesn't know when he's going to get the ball

his flaw is he loses focus on defense. he focused last year, and he was just fine. he's perfectly capable of it. rebuild a better roster, he buys in, ????, profit.

What makes you so sure he buys in with a different set of players. He can but that doesn't mean he will.

i think he sees the writing on the wall. but what else is there, you cant trade him. also there were times where it just wasnt harden playing defense, whether it was terry on fight a screen or what not. screen defense seems to be terrible. one seemed to know if they had to hedge, help or switch.

and we know trading Harden is the stupidest thing we could do. let the 2k GMs in the nba thread think that

   and he said that with a straight face, like Ariza was Klay Thompson or something beforehand

Harden is the superstar on the team. The defensive intensity starts with him.

I don't give a **** what historic offensive numbers he puts up if he's only playing one side of the ball. He doesn't have to be a defensive player of the year candidate, but he just has to be more committed to defense.

This season is was disgusting how many buckets we gave up from a straight lack of effort

i get this line of logic, i just think it's stupid.

yes, harden needs to play better defense. no one disputes that. i just think it's extremely stupid that we use his lack of defense to make excuses for everyone else to be bad. ariza's job is to play defense. he gets paid 8 million dollars to play defense and shoot 3s. giving him a pass to be a bad defender and miss 3s because "harden doesn't set the tone" is such a copout.

It's not Harden's fault Ariza isn't as good as he was or can't shoot.

The defensive energy just needs to start with James.

I see nothing wrong here. If Beverly plays off her and she makes her little jumpers, then Beverly looks like the scrub. Besides most professional hoppers play hard, it's difficult to turn that switch off

BTW, there's been a mix of both interest and interviewing of coaching candidates...Sam Cassel, Vinny Del Negro, and Lionel Hollins. Massive no to Vinny right off the bat
