Houston Rockets rookie Sam Dekker will have back surgery on Friday, sources told ESPN. Likely to miss about three months.

"Ty Lawson said Kevin McHale would make a defensive call and the team would run something else. He said meeting should fix the problem."

Those players gotta take accountability but they wont of course. They didnt even look like were trying out there. Wonder who we hire next.

I agree but i think this goes way deeper than we know. If Morey and Leslie were satisfied with Mchale the firing wouldn't have come this soon. They saw something a while ago but the team was playing well so they couldn't pull the trigger. I've played/coached bball and from an X's and O's standpoint Mchale was awful. I'm quite sure the people who work for the Rockets and have MUCH more bball knowledege than I do saw what I was seeing.

Thibs is the best out there, but I'm not sure if he has the offensive creativity to get this team past GSW, OKC, and SA. He'd definitely improve the defense, but in the WC you gotta be able to score. James by himself isn't enough.

I def agree with that and it goes deeper than we know. I wonder why Morey gave that contract mid season last season when McHales coaching was terrible. There was no reason .

Thibs is def the best fit. What about Van Gundy? Is he even down to coach anymore. Either way they gotta be real careful who they hire next.

Brooks is the word on the street.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :x

I'd rather give a young unknown a shot before hiring a guy who couldn't get an equally talented squad to a championship

Morey's got a boss...I think Leslie really likes Mchale personally and with the team winning Morey couldn't tell the guy who writes the checks NOT to give him the money. I do think Morey got pissed that Mchale wasn't giving guys minutes or getting the most out of the team and probably put a bug in Leslies ear long ago about it. The team comes out awful and now the owner starts listening.

I don't think Van Gundy wants to coach any more honestly; plus been there done that. I like Thibs but I really don't think he can get the Rockets any farther than they got last year. Defense alone just isn't gonna get it done. There's no defense for Steph pulling up from 40 feet. They gotta get more creative offensively and get more guys involved. Thibs won't bring that.

still talking this after the man got fired 11 games into the season

like our front office is shooting off the hip with the firing

 McHale wasn't the one slacking on defense against the Celtics either...the Celtics. At home too...

Its one thing to have bad coaching and him being gone now but nah you gotta take accountability also with things like that.

I get there needs to be accountability. I just don't think you get that these are all symptoms of a team not properly being coached.

Again, you can't have en ENTIRE locker-room full of guys that don't care or have dog in them. Guys don't have dog in them on some other team, and mysteriously lose that dog in Houston. That's not how it works

I agree with your whole post. I agree with this statement mostly too, but the Cavs at least had a gameplan that worked for a good portion of time. If they were healthier, I think they'd have bounced the Dubs. And they did it with Dellevedova.

We need a coach that can make chess moves out here. We have talent and depth

We all knew McHale was a bad X's and O's coach. The focus on actually playing defense last season did nothing but shine up a turd, but it was still a POS

It made zero sense to extend McHale last year, and now the team is paying for it in more ways than one.

the celtics huge run was sparked by horrible offense and turning it over. they literally got layup after layup and got hot from distance, while we kept giving them the ball back.

the problems with the defense run hand in hand with the offense.

that was a theme at the end of last year and during the playoff losses.

Bad offense putting the rockets in transition defense situations where they just get worked.

True I agree  . The entire locker room was guys that just didnt care. That just doesn't happen.

Those turnovers on offense :x

Morey Press Conference.

Man that cat looks stressed as a MFer.

The entire squad best not feel like they're safe.

Ultimately McHale had to go because he lost the team, but a lot of that is on the players.

Completely agree with this.

I'm still appalled at the simple lack of knowledge from other fanbases when it comes to McHale. People are acting like he is coming off a championship and was targeted and undermined. Not just an NT thing either, it just happens to be worse on here than anywhere else.
