Midnight Marauders or The Low End Theory and why

I like the topical diversity of LET (infamous date rape, skypager, the what etc..) but the production and sequencing of Midnight Marauders is superior

As a kid I liked Low End

but as an adult Midnight. It's practically flawless and I can play it beginning to end. There's only a handful of albums I can do that with.

They had grown with Midnight.

Low end theory. I find it to be a rawer album in terms of production . Very nuanced from hype to mellow MM to me was a smooth album all the way through. Sequencing of LET is better to me, features too. I may be biased though it's the first hip hop album I ever fell in love with.

:nthat:

I remember being in 7th Grade and a buddy of mine let me borrow it. I held onto it for like 1-2 years .

i can't really say. but as a project as a whole i think i would go with Midnight Marauders because it all just flows so well

MM

Phife Dawg just spazzed on everything he was on

The production just felt it stepped up a bit

The Chase Part II is my favorite song ever created

MM is one of the most cohesive albums that I have ever heard. That album was a tough act to follow, even for ATCQ. LET was dope when I was about 13-14, I thought that they couldn't top that, and once the video for "Scenario" was made and played damn near 24/7 on Yo MTV Raps, that group could do no wrong. But when they followed up with MM, it was like nothing else at that time. And it is a classic album to me because it still to this very day has high replay value amidst the stuff that is out now. Phife came into own on this album. The production was on par with any album that was ever considered a classic. Just my two pennies.

It all depends on the day for me now. It used to be LET without question, but nowadays they're both pretty equal in my opinion. LET has my favorite song of theirs in We Got the Jazz, but MM has a better overall mix and the sound is a lot cleaner and Phife has a bigger hand in MM which makes it great. But there's some so raw and gritty about LET that always brings it back to the top for me. Like I said it depends on the day. There will never be a clear winner.

Yea the only thing that bothers me about Midnight Marauders is that the lack of diversity in content. Thats the only strike against it for me. With the exception of 8 Million Stories, Sucka Ni**a, Midnight, and Electric Relaxation, all the songs have this very "freestyle" approach about em that I don't mind for 1 or 2 tracks but it does get redundant at times. My only complaint
