We had a school police officer from elementary to high school. Especially in my HS, sometimes a guidance counselor or security personnel were just not enough. However the officer at my HS was asked to help break up fights, arrest drug users/dealers and take away people who got caught stealing or damaging school property. But for a girl that refused to give up her cell phone? You don't need an officer for that. Just write her up, even suspend her if you feel the disrespect was that extreme.

Sad thing is judging by some these posts and what I've seen on FB some of these teachers and others who work in schools have it in for kids in general. Essentially because of "disrespect" They look at them almost exactly how police do.

They also automatically point fingers at the parents like kids don't act a certain way according to who they're around.

Ego.

Not that it matters but a lot of teachers have no children so it baffles me how they despise parents who don't meet their standards.

A lot of teachers are miserable people. They come to work early and leave late to escape their reality and take it out on their class and staff.

So officer "slam" got fired, now it's time to prosecute and Sue if I was the family

What do you mean "take her out?" Hope that aint code for kill cuz I haven't heard that as code for a beating.

Thats just what it means.

My child will not disrespect me. I brought her into this world, i will take her out.

I rather she die in my hands because I love her than in the hands of these streets because I failed to teach her how to act in public. These streets will take her life and not give a damn about it.

My mom used to try to use this ******** train of thought on me and I would just laugh at her like "Good luck."

It's sad that you're going to more than likely ingrain this poisonous ideology into your daughter and potentially keep it going another generation because in 10-12 years she'll swear up and down that she turned out just fine and want to reuse this garbage.

The officer is wrong. period.

He's in a controlled environment, a school. Each use of excessive force is not justified on a child that poses no threat to him.

He should be terminated from his job, and never allowed in a school setting again.

This

From all the **** i see with the law cops are quick to powertrip

The cop was fired, but we all know he'll be gainfully employed soon or when this whole thing "goes away"

You are probably right. These guys just wait til the smoke settles and usually go to another department. He doesn't belong in law enforcement and damn sure doesn't belong in any school.

Assaulted S.C. Student Is A Recent Orphan Living In Foster Care, Attorney Says

The attorney for a 16-year-old student who was thrown across a classroom during an arrest says the officer should be jailed for his actions.

Attorney Todd Rutherford said Wednesday that the girl went to the hospital Monday night and has a cast on her arm and has complained of neck, back and psychological injuries.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Rutherford also said that the student is a recent orphan who lost her mother and is currently living in a foster home.

this makes no sense

a few examples and videos online and now every one thinks cops are going around killing people on sight
Hes saying police in complicated situations outcome is usually a dead untrialed suspect . Which is true.

What ever happened with the chicago lady killed after they took her in, in that white town?

But it's okay for kids these days to attack the Principal?

I don't see why the cop had to be fired, I'm pretty sure there were more than just what was recorded. The least he should of had was a suspension.

Matter fact, the kid was the one who swung at the officer https://news.yahoo.com/video/sheriff-says-video-shows-student-131009326.html

Kids these days man.

Don't see the kid swinging at the officer, but I did see the kid try to hit the office when he picked her whole desk up....What are you talking about?

I don't have a problem with trying to hit someone who is trying to pick your desk up with you in it and flip you over or just threw you across the room. I really dont know what people expect citizens to do when they are getting beat up by officers. Just close your eyes and hope for the best? Play dead and maybe they'll stop like bears do?

Teachers and administrators need to work harder on finding ways to handle defiant students. Also, makes me wonder what the parent-child relationship is like in the household, as it is usually the case where these behaviors tend to manifest themselves.

.
Let's be real here, that cop did everything in his power to get fired. I don't know what these South Carolina cops are on.

Apparently some cop involved in an incident in SC was smoking weed in his car.

The cop who lifted her up was obviously on steroids.

It appears that this girl unfortunately didn't have much of a family. The parent-child relationship is much more important than the teacher-child relationship and the students are definitely a reflection of their parents and their child rearing abilities. Education really begins and ends at home and a lot of these kids today have no real support from their families or communiities, until something like this happens to provoke the "us vs them" response.

It is a power struggle.

The best bet is for someone that the student trusts be asked to come de-escalate the situation.

BUT, that can't ALWAYS be the only option because the student HAS to learn to follow directions in the presence of other adults.

It is tough man. Honestly a no-win at times.
