I went back and listened to Vince's CD

It's actually better than I initially felt.

I'm glad that Vince was able to spark a meaningful conversation in the Music forum outside of Drake, Meek Mill, etc but I'm pretty sure he was at least half way trolling, that's pretty much his shtick laugh.gif

Nah.
The first 3 Killarmy albums are DOPE as ****.

The fact that Killa Sin never took off still bothers me. One of the BEST rappers that never popped. Other than Killah Priest, he's the only Wu affiliate I feel like should've been part of the actual Clan.

Would anybody really miss U-God?

The casual fan doesn't know what Soundscan is. Never been to HitsDailyDouble or Billboard. None of those sites cater to casual fans. They know what's HOT. Sometimes what's hot sells (Drake/Lil Wayne/DMX/Snoop) sometimes it doesn't (Gucci Mane/Future/Fetty Wap)

Once hip-hop was commercialized sales began to matter. They mattered before then. When Busy Bee was MCing parties I'm sure he wanted the venue to be jam packed. When Herc was in the park he wanted the WHOLE hood to come out. You want your art on display for as many people as possible, obviously there are a few exceptions but about 95% of those involved in the culture want maximum exposure relative to your core. From the DJ, to the MC, to the B-Boy, to the graffiti artist. Cats wasn't bombing trains so NO ONE would see their work.

You're right. Casual fan isn't the phrase I should of used.

@Trill Nimley you dont think Cappadonna shoulda been a Wu member? He was always my fav Wu affiliate. His verse on Winter Warz is forever pimp.gifpimp.gifpimp.gif
post #219 of 239
Cap is a member.

He became official much too late tho. He should've been since Wu Tang Forever

Cap became official circa '8 Diagrams'.

But he had been filling in since 99 when 'The W' dropped.

Listened to cappadonna's "the pillage" at the end of the summer. Was a pretty solid album. Would even say I enjoyed it.

Also listened to LA the darkman's "heist of the century" a couple weeks ago. was alright.

Don't get me wrong, killarmy is ūüĒ•and dirty weaponry and silent weapons are both ūüĒ•, haven't gotten around to listening to "fear love and war" in its entirety, but the few tracks I heard are pretty dope (nonchalantly, feel it) BUT "soldiers of darkness" , starts with a solid killa sin verse, and "wake up" were my introduction to SOM. From there I listened to "the first testament", "the old testament", and all the tracks off of "nothing new under the sun". There only misstep IMO was "the last shall be first." Way too polished, and I just can't rock with that album aside from "flaming swords". But I just think SOM is altogether more gritty and raw and there lyrics really connect with me. Killah priest and shabazz the disciple alone pimp.gif . I almost chose "house of steel" for a screen name on here.

Killa sin's a beast but he did all types of "hood" **** that hindered his career. He's locked up on attempted murder right now. Guess he really did what he rhymed about.

I'm not a U god hater. He drops a solid verse here and there. Gotta get around to listening to "golden arms redemption" at some point.

Heist of the Century used to be one of those rare CDs that would sell for 50+

I had the tape...decent album

I liked the song he had on the Soul Assassins album too

Didn't love or hate "heist of the century". It did have a couple standout tracks tho. And I wish "fifth disciple" was longer. That track is pimp.gif

Heist of the Century was smokin.gif and yeah I remember the hard copy being super rare. I remember being super thrown off when he started to work with DJ Drama and Streets in Lock was on every Gangsta Grillz laugh.gif

Killah Priest definitely the best affiliate though.

Heist was the best affiliate album IMO

Killah Priest is probably the best affiliate rapper.

Hold on, Vince Staples is blue flagging?! I neva' knew that....

I disagree with Vince Staples & Tyler. When your apart of a field/culture. At some point n' time, you should do your research and know the foundation and roots of that particular profession. No wonder why i don't like Vince or Tyler's music. They don't know their history. Go figures..
What's even funnier, No I.D. has done tons of producing and sessions with Vince.

Yeah, I thought of that also. He's an exec at Def Jam and is probably who signed him, plus he produced on his album.

I suggest he listen to Resurrection and all of the No ID Common albums, because he's missing out.
