The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired RHP Ronald Herrera from the San Diego Padres in exchange for INF Jose Pirela.

So rather than have Bird ride the bench, Yanks gonna have him as an everyday guy with AAA Scranton. Makes sense, but it's too bad they don't have space for him on this roster atm. Can't wait for him to be our everyday 1B, he's a major league player already.
I see no reason to keep Tex around to stunt Bird's growth. You aren't winning a World Series with Tex, just move him and give Bird the experience. This is the problem with the Yankees showing too much respect to over the hill vets. Get a mid level prospect and be done with him.
If both teams hate the trade, then I'll assume Cashman did a good job.
But if he trades Gardner & Hicks is the everyday guy in Left and Beltran everyday in RF that's not very smart.

Sources: #DBacks among teams to inquire on #Yankees’ Miller. No names exchanged yet, but AZ has young SPs, IFers who would interest NYY.
