In hindsight we would have been the winners in that trade, but I still didn't really care to have Lee even after his 09 postseason run.

Y'all kinda lucked out with Lee. He got $50 million for 13 games the last 2 seasons. And an extra $12.5M as a good bye gift.

So rather than have Bird ride the bench, Yanks gonna have him as an everyday guy with AAA Scranton. Makes sense, but it's too bad they don't have space for him on this roster atm. Can't wait for him to be our everyday 1B, he's a major league player already.

searched Aaron Hicks to get some information about him. Twins fans are mad they traded him & Yankees fans are mad we traded JR

Corny pun aside, but the Bird is the word. Kid can handle his own in the big leagues and it really is just a matter of time before 1B is his. Whether it's after this season of no more Teix or he gets hurt yet again midway through 2016.
Hicks for JRM is interesting; if Cashman is high on Hicks being an everyday player than I agree, Brett is likely otw out. But I don't like Sanchez catching over JRM.

I see no reason to keep Tex around to stunt Bird's growth. You aren't winning a World Series with Tex, just move him and give Bird the experience. This is the problem with the Yankees showing too much respect to over the hill vets. Get a mid level prospect and be done with him.

If both teams hate the trade, then I'll assume Cashman did a good job.
But if he trades Gardner & Hicks is the everyday guy in Left and Beltran everyday in RF that's not very smart.

They'll end up trading Miller for prospects then use other prospects to trade for Kimbrel or Chapman.

Daniel Murphy has already been ruled out by Cashman.. Said he wants a more complete player at 2B. And Murphy is not that.
If Hicks is an everyday guy. Is Ackley the 4th OF? or if not, he's now everyday 2B?
Or does Cashman do with Refsnyder what he did with Bird, and send him to AAA?
Then Ackley is now your backup 2B & Zobrist starts at 2B.
Or does this mean he's not chasing Zobrist. Not chasing Heyward or Upton. And what we're doing is trading J.R. Murphy for Hicks. And Gardner for ??? I'm sure that lineup will do well
