YANKEES OFFSEASON THREAD: Lock This

So the earliest Yanks get Harper in FA is 2019?

2018 :nerd:

Why the incredible Class of 2018 will change MLB as we know it

Even though the New York Yankees find themselves near the top of the list with $57 million on the books, it’s a fraction of what they’ve had in recent seasons, and the prospect of Harper and Harvey ending up in pinstripes is realistic, particularly if New York dips below the new luxury-tax threshold established in the coming collective-bargaining negotiations.

Ain't nobody got time for that though lol...and this just reminds me of what the Knicks tried to do there's no guarantees

i was thinking the same thing . they put all their eggs in the LeBron basket & when he turned us down they had no plan B.

there's a way to be a contender now & still have room for Bryce in 2 years like Essential said.

I just don't think Hal gets how easily they could have gotten out of contracts with Heyward & Upton.

Built up the farm in other areas of need (pitching) by allowing us to be able to get rid of Gardner & Refsnyder, not have truly spent $20-23mil on them. Even if you don't get Top 100 guys, you could get decent prospects for both, and take the leap of faith that they develop.

You could do all of that while making the product out on the field better.

Watch as our payroll goes down the next few years, and then pounce on Harper while getting rid of Upton or Heyward at the same time whether they opted out, or we trade them.

QFT on the bolded. I was definitely intrigued at the chance for Cashman to go and get Heyward.

Harper I feel is inevitable to come here  .

Pls.

Sports Illustrated cover 2009:

“Be in the Hall of Fame, definitely. Play in Yankee Stadium. Play in the pinstripes. Be considered the greatest baseball player who ever lived. I can’t wait,” he told the magazine." -BH

Starlin wearing #14 with us :smokin

hope Drew's crappiness didn't curse the number

Just heard it on Joe and Evan. I'm stunned. Not a Yankee type move. Jon Heyman said he might not even serve a suspension. I'm shocked. Love the moves we made so far.

Man, you got a steal move. Looking forward to seeing his pitch at Yankee Stadium next summer.

Please don't trade Miller in a future trade :frown:

But all in all, a great trade. Jagielo was a few years away. Rookie Davis would have taken some time, and by then most of our rotation would have been set.

Ks per 9 IP among relievers last yr: 1. Chapman 15.74. 2. Miller 14.59. 3. Betances 14.04 #Yankees. Yep. NYY has top 3 now.

For prospects and not Miller :wow: wonder who and now what happens with Miller :nerd: .

Cashman is cooking I smell it
My dude got that elite police tracking dog sense of smell. Sniffed out Cashman cookin' 18 days ago.

Leggo.

having 3 dominant "closers" allows us to rest Betances more often after a huge workload last season.

there will be times where all 3 pitch in the same game but i'd expect 2/3 to be used most games

I have to retire the thread title...." YANKEES OFFSEASON THREAD: A BIRD ON THE BENCH, IS WORTH 2 ON THE FIELD"

To "YANKEES OFFSEASON THREAD: A-R-O-L-D-I-S SPELLS RELIEF"

if Chapman is proven guilty in his domestic violence case it's gonna be hard to root for him...
