Spike Lee's CHIRAQ trailer

 I'm laughing at you saying golly though.
I can agree it's probably Spike's intent to make it a metaphor for any major city with these problems but then what I said can kinda still apply. How many times does a wake up call need to be presented to the masses in this format until something is done about it? or there's change just so that after a decade and some change things degrade back to mass violence and senseless death?

Something needs to be presented, other than what is now. What's the alternative, Madea Christmas Part 2?

Change isn't going to happen overnight, because there are a lot of people trying to clean up the cities.

The movie should provide talking points to discuss and build off of, which is why I was disappointed to come in here and see a bunch of Chance The Rapper type complaints of what they think the movie is about. I hope that brotha sees this movie, so he can see how wrong he was.

There's two ways to use the word "fierce" The way that boy did in the barbie commercial  and in a more aggressive way.

Exactly bruh

Obviously some folks too simple (or too insecure, perhaps both) to realize that.

At this point I can understand ppl saying they didnt care for the presentation of the Trailer and dont want to see it, but I'm hearing ppl online are saying its crap and haven't seen it, which is just idiotic.

I enjoyed the flick, and for anyone who saw the flick I`d like to know why they didnt like it, I can pretty much guarantee it had nothing to do with the story/message though and probably some trivial stuff like they didnt like Nick Canon or something.

Haven't seen it....trailer has put me off, but I'll definitely give it a chance. Used to be a Spike fan, and he's given us classics...so I'll always give the guy a chance.....but he's been very terrible for the last decade.

Also, a "good message", has nothing to do with how good a movie actually is. Tons of terrible movies have had great themes and been executed poorly. A story or message does not always save a movie.

Still crying I see. And you were talking about someone being in their feelings?

I'm not sure why you're saying exactly, you said fierce the same way you used golly. There's no aggressive content or meaning in that, no matter how many b's and son's you add Stitches

Exactly, which is deeply disturbing. Too many of us are too easily distracted.

I thought Dope had a bad trailer. That didn't cause me to say the movie wasn't good or know what the movie was about from a minute and a half clip.

I went to see Dope and Dear White people before I made my conclusion that I did not enjoy the films along with giving my reasons, you have these people saying F spike lee off of a trailer. But then again this mentality does not surprise me what so ever, so at this point I just take note of the type of individuals who behave like this.

You're obviously a bit slow, I as well as others have outlined the difference between the way I used the term and the way you interpreted it.

Now stop acting insecure, worrying about my lingo. Unlike you I don't need to constantly express myself "aggressively" to feel validated as a man.

To be fair tho , some ppl said that spike been washed for a min ...so if they haven't been messin wit him for a while now , it's no reason to expect them to all of a sudden like a spike project ...consumers pick up patterns sometimes and it's hard to shake or give a movie a chance ( basically what Adam saddler going through right now , he legit sucks tho  )

When has Sandler not sucked tho?

Aside from Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.

 Son has a legacy of trash.

I myself am half west indian and i get what your saying about coming from poverty, thats what my family dealt with when they came through Ellis island from jamaica and barbados. And i can see the differences in my families but it is crazy for you to act like every child comes home to a positive environment of do better be all you can be.

African american is not the same as a west indian or african. And it is crazy to think that your experience is the same as everyone else.

Great yournparents made it but at the same time u have to understand that slavery ended in the west indies long before it did in the us. And in most cases black people were the majority.

Listen, in most cases when you come from a third world country and arrive here, you end up in the ghettos, inner cities. Let's see no papers, no English, no family, and inner city. I blame it on bad family structure or lack of.

Real talk the only spike movie I liked was he got game...

Rhymefest was on Sway this morning and was straight hammering Spike for this movie

and he had some interesting points along with it.

Shortened Version:

Mentioned that Spike had written this movie a few years ago and couldn't get funding for it, so he decided to use Chicago for it and Amazon funded it.

Got into using Nick Cannon for the role he is in. He said it isn't that he doesn't like Nick, but you put Nick in a role as a "Savage" (his exact word) and that just isn't him nor is it believable. Said that this movie is unauthentic for it to be placed in Chicago and he says that many people from there agree with him.

He also go into the "Blacks Elites" exploiting the poor black people to become and continue to be wealthy. Even brought up Russell Simmons and the Rush Card, and "how you get the card, put your money into it, and then you look and your money is gone."

He ended with mentioning how all of Spike's movies at least have a good soundtrack with them, but said that the one for Chiraq is whack

Only way to make an authentic Chicago Flick is to do a documentary or style it like Boyz N Da Hood pretty much, and if Rhyme wants that, why doesnt he go and do it?

yea im just going off a personal review from my own blood who isnt an idiot and a big spike fan an was part of BSU in College
