Spike Lee's CHIRAQ trailer

Seems like Spike is looking to create a spark in women's mind about who they lay with and the power they have to change things. Maybe he thinks doing it in a satirical manner makes it not come off as being preachy.

I appreciate this post. I was wondering what the "message" behind this movie was.

Doesnt make sense. They aint dating respectable women. They dating the type of **** you see in "real housewives of [metropolitan area]" or some **** like that

I know, I'm not saying that's the message of the movie, but it gets me thinking just a little more rather than "Spike Lee sucks" posts.

I'm just going to leave this here, dropped in 2003. I saw it on YouTube.

Spike Lee is a vulture and I hope no one supports him after this blatant ripoff. :smh: :smh:[/Video]

Dudes thought they were getting menace 2 society from Spike Lee?

That's what confusing to me as well. As somebody who basically grew up on dude's films, he's NEVER been the one to make some extra hood type movie. Spike is gonna make you laugh, cry, angry, and think all in one movie. Guys calling it trash after watching a 2 minute trailer, like come on

Yeah exactly. That's not Spikes wave at all. that's Why Clockers was so dope, it's one of my all time favorite movies. So many gems he dropped in there even the opening sequence was incredible.

so anytime you want to make garbage just label it satire.

That's the approach the guy who made The Room took:

He obviously made it as a serious drama, but when the movie became popular due to being labeled as one of the worst movies ever made, he said that it was intended to be a "black comedy" all along.

Ill admit the trailer can throw you for a loop if you go into it with expectations because you are familiar with the term "Chiraq"

But I saw a lot of opportunity in the trailer for this to be pretty damn good.

I think the trailer may end up being a bait and switch tho. If this comes off as school daze good, I wont be disappointed. But if it ends up being ultra corny, then I cant say I didnt see it coming. I think we will see more darkness than the trailer alludes to tho.

I am a fan of the lead actress. She does a good job on Survivor's Remorse. (great show btw)

I have mixed feelings. Biggest turnoff is nick cannon in that role. I just can't take that seriously.

Teyonnah Paris is bad as hell.

Well we all know the reason Chicago is called Chiraq. We all know the **** that happens in Chiraq. That trailer just makes a mockery of it. Im not saying he is intentionally making a mockery of it. Still wtf

He's definitely trying to point a spotlight on they city. Just not sure this will get the job done.

I see a solid cast in that trailer. But Nick Cannon shouldn't be here.

Will give it a watch when out.

It's satirical. a mockery would be to make light of the subject for purely entertainment purposes. That's not what's happening here.

Are those new routes to West and South Africa to foster sales in the region or is it as safehaven for the coke before it gets to Europe? :nerd:
a lot of big cities in Africa. Huge influx of foreigners and foreign investment. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a market there.

i love school daze, was just talking about it another thread about Spike Lee.
Why do dudes always gotta to to the "you don't understand" when someone doesn't like something
Spike Lee has done darker less flamboyant pictures, given the topic, knowing nothing else about the film before today
why is it sooooo out of bounds to be disappointed that he chose his typical route instead....
