Nike Air Jordan Retro Metallic V - 7/23/16

All of this, wear your kicks!! Cause once they age in 4-5 years they will be back again if you want them.. I'm loving the retro cycle honestly cause I wear my shoes and then replace when the time comes.

Truth be told, some people just own more sneakers than they can actually wear. A lot of people are in work boots or dress shoes throughout the week which leaves only the weekend to wear sneakers. When your collection is already extensive and you continue to add to it unworn pairs are just a part of the trade. It's usually not by choice it's just lifestyle obligations won't allow regular sneaker wear. Just one of the conflicts that come with being a sneaker enthusiast. Mad props to those who can wear what they want when they want 24/7 365!

100% agreed.  I'm lucky that my company is business casual (jeans allowed), and sneakers are acceptable.  So I'm able to wear most of mine any day of the week.  It's more of what looks good vs. out of place.  For example, any black sneaker, or even laser 4s look fine, compared to WC4, which are so bright they often don't look right with a button down shirt.  Though when I've worn them I get stopped in the halls with comments from people who are like "wow, I had those when I was a kid; where'd you get them!"...same with the black infrared 6s...in a 3000 person company (i.e. people I don't know).  Good conversation starter.  It's actually during the weekend that I only wear certain kicks b/c I don't want my kids scuffing up my more prized pairs ;-).  My last company sneakers were inappropriate (even though jeans were ok), so my collection was basically rotting away.

Why not wear them before they get to that point?  If you don't wear your shoes, why do you care about their current condition?  Unless it's for resale purposes?  It's sad to think about how many people spend months looking forward to a launch, talking about them, and putting in a lot of effort to get them.  Then stash them away to focus on the next release.  Years pass and they become unwearable and unsellable (b/c they're unwearable, or the latest retro dropped making the previous one generally undesirable).  If you wear a shoe, most will last for 20+ years in terms of decomposition.  If you wear them out, great, that means  you enjoyed them, and you can surely buy a newer release and wear them again.

If you're a collector and display them or look at them regularly, then the age won't matter.  Anyway, I don't get all of the energy some of us put into getting shoes only to have them rot away in the closet, and then we sell them.  Such a crazy cycle!

And StockX is complete BS.  Shoes are nothing like stocks.  Even shoes you have that are worth money, retail, or more, try selling them....it will take weeks, months, or never.  These aren't assets that can be easily liquidated, and they lose value as they get re-retroed.  Jordan Geller from Shoezeum was a genius for selling off his collection when he did, right as the re-retroing launches began to accelerate making his collection less valuable!

Anyway, sorry for the rant.  I have borderline too many pairs to reasonably wear, which I'm trying to do now.  I'll never sell them, and want to enjoy wearing them.  I don't think I can go over 50 pairs and reasonably get to wearing them all....

This will be the 3rd $220 remastered Jordan. I feel these are in between the maroon VI and cement IV as far as hype/want. the $220 price tag really is a big detractor for most, especially the small time resellers. There won't be much in the way of profit for these after they release.

No way. These will sell and sell fast. Black/metallic Vs are probably the best V. At best we can expect a cement IV situation where if you want them, you can get them that morning. These won't be around like the maroons that's for sure. $220 won't be holding anyone back. There's really no other hyped shoe releasing in July. These sold well in '07 and '11. This is one of the shoes were the Nike Air makes a huge difference.

1. Original colorway

2. Black based shoe

3. Reflective tongue

4. Nike Air on the back and outsole

5. Fresh Prince of Bel Air classic

Yes sir definitely going to sell out

I agree they will sell out. I'm just saying that the aftermarket for these will be minimal so most of the small-time resellers will sit this one out. Only those who actually want the shoe to wear / collect will buy them.

What store is that in LA?
Finish Line in Lake Charles, La.

My boy say they are getting a boat load.

Normally they get one 10.5 for most releases.

Right now, they already have four, with another shipment expected.

Pairs should be abundant nationwide this release.

That's what I like to hear!

Sounds good, I live near New Orleans so I imagine there will be enough to go around in the city.

You should be straight out there.  I saw picture of the FTL on Canal for the flu games and it was bananas.

Be careful out there.

You're right. These will settle at $325-350 on FC. With the 20%, it's not worth anyone's time to resell any of the GRs really. Going through the hassle of dropping off the shoes, waiting for them to be sold and then going back for a check with $20 profit is really not worth anyone's time. With most releases you now actually end up losing $20-30 off msrp through consignment. For consignment shops though business has never been better.

Now in 3-4 years all of these NAs will go for a premium. The other day I literally saw someone rocking the WCs on every single block haha. At least half of the production will be beat by the end of the year. I have a feeling the maroon VIs will also be pretty expensive in the future. That tends to happen when people ignore releases. Nobody bought the Oreos back in 2010 and they were and still are some of the more pricey VIs on FC.

Yeah, I think these will be like the 2016 white/cement 4s, maybe a little less sought after since Nike Air on the heel doesn't make or break this shoe. FC will probably be $320-350, but that's consignment and not an accurate market reflection, private party sales about $250-290.

I highly doubt these will go for a premium in 3-4 years though. JB is producing more than enough to go around and with the rate things get re-released these days, I just don't see it.
