This is the exact **** I'm talking about.

Don't mention LeBron in the same breath as MJ ever again. Ol' cakewalk to the finals *** boy.

i actually didnt mention them in the same breath. obviously MJ is head and shoulders over lebron.

i just gave reason for why i think he is head and shoulder over lebron.

dont practice bad NT journalism

and what kind of stat is that anyway? LMAO you play who's in front of you. lebron isnt mayweather. he didnt pick and choose who he wanted to play in the playoffs...and kobe being #1 on that list is the Shaq effect BIG TIME. if you wanna talk hollow stats...thats the true definition of a "hollow stat"

If Steph can gain a more physical presence with mid range and post up game like Lebron, Kobe, durant has then the discussion can start.

But he is def sick and in the top 3 currently.

Curry mid range game is on point, and i dont think hes posting up anyone anytime soon...like never.

LBJ empty stat king
Over your man Melo? Quite a feat

Nobody in MJ's lane

Look at this list of the best regular seasons in NBA history (winning percentage .750 or better). Excluding the strike-shortened seasons, and focusing on just the modern era, these players (and their teams, obviously) beat the following 62+ win teams:

* Jordan beat four of them (’96 Sonics, ’97 Jazz, ’93 Suns, ’98 Jazz) in the Finals
* Dwight Howard beat two (’09 Cavs, ’09 Celtics) in the ECS, ECF
* Magic beat two (’85 Celtics, ’91 Blazers) in the Finals, WCF
* Larry beat one ‘(81 76ers) in the ECF
* LeBron beat one (’11 Bulls) in the ECF
* Tim Duncan beat one (’05 Suns) in WCF
* Kevin Durant beat one (’12 Spurs) in WCF
* Dirk beat one (’06 Spurs) in WCS

What does Curry need a mid-range game for? If you're knocking his game it revolves around lack of versatility on defense due to his size and a belief that it's just difficult to really be 6'3 and the best player in the world. That's about it. And with today's NBA and rules, there's less doubt that it can be the case, it's happening. *It is amusing that the stupid 'if he played in another era' theory has never been more relevant for a player and talked about less now.

On Friday November 13, 2015 at 10:54 AM, yes , Wardell Stephen Curry II is the best basketball player in the world

On offense I would say he's passed LeBron. Dude is just a sniper. He makes 30 footers look like FT's. As a overall player I would still take LeBron though.

Saying LeBron puts up empty stats is foolish

For like the last 8 years every team he's on is in contention cuz of the impact he has on games. Scoring, rebounding, getting teammates open looks, defensively. If you watch him play there's no way you can say he puts up empty stats unless you just one of them dudes.

I like these stand alone topics, it gets more posters involved as opposed having these discussions in the NBA/NFL threads.

curry is by far the better defensive player than lebron, dude looked like harden in the finals

lebron might be the most overrated defender of all time, getting credit for guarding no names from the east his entire career while being lit up by role players like iggy and kawai in the finals

how is it even possible to have 14 minutes of terrible defense highlights in just 6 games?

straight overrated trash

steph's defense is underrated

Lebron was a defensive player of the year candidate for like 4 seasons.
overrated media bias fuelled by the "he can guard 5 positions" narrative even though offensive mega bum roy hibbert would torch his team since they had no one who could defend a C

empty steal and chase down block stats without actually playing good defense, dude was literally running away from curry in the finals because he didnt want to get rained on.

That is the "cakewalk through my terrible conference" stat.

LeBron James = the Indianapolis Colts.
Eastern conference = the AFC South.

There's a reason why he's 2-4 in the finals.

i'm pretty objective on this subject. curry is on an unbelievable tear right now. he is amazing. but using valid statistics to back up my points is where i am coming from.

you cant call lebron a hollow stat king, then use a hollow stat to back up your point. especially when the west plays the east every year during the regular season and in the finals, and btw...the cavs are perhaps a healthy kyrie irving away from making this thread non existent.

an empty stat is a stat that takes valid statistics and turns that list of top player/teams and throws it on its ear. perfect example...

here is a list of the most championships won by player:

1. bill russell 11
2. sam jones 10
3.tom heinsohn 9
4. KC jones 9
5. Tom Sanders 8
6. John Havlicek 8
7. Jim Loscutoff 7
Frank Ramsey 7
Robert Horry 7

if i said this were a list of the 9 best players in NBA history and used how many championships they won a my main sticking point, this would be the definition of an empty stat (along with the previous mentioned Kevin Martin example)

Why would Curry need to be more physical? He has flawless mechanics and the ball just goes in  he uses minimal effort for his shots because of having great execution in his shooting.

On the flip side, where is he playing this "great defense"? The notion that he does play defense pretty much kicked off in 2012/2013 when Harden was playing really bad defense, yet when I watched actually games, I'm not at all seeing that.

if kyrie irving was healthy to take delly's minutes curry would have gotten finals mvp and the series would have been 5 games at most

all while taking away lebrons touches resulting in fewer stats

any top 20 player could have done what lebron did in the finals, put up big stats shooting everytime down the court for a garbage team

curry is a year away from having as many championships as lebron, without having to form a superteam with his best friends, in a far better conference, before his 3rd sig shoe releases

Not yet, but he's definitely gaining on him. Would be awesome if Curry wins back 2 back, playing in the western conference. Then that gap would be closed.
