Curry second only to Jordan in basketball shoe sales
Curry has become the Under Armour lead athlete with his ‘Curry 2’ basketball shoes flying off the shelves in the United States. According to Business Insider, Under Armour’s shoe sales in the United States have exploded and are up 350 percent in 2016 alone. Now on his way to a possible back-to-back MVP season, Curry could potentially become the face of ‘the world’s No. 2 athletic brand,’ according to Morgan Stanley financial analyst Jay Sole.
With Curry’s shoe line already bigger than fellow NBA stars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, Sole thinks Curry’s potential value to Under Armour is in the billions of dollars. Fourteen billion dollars to be exact, as long as Curry continues doing things the NBA has never seen before.
“We also note Curry is arguably the NBA’s most popular player,” Sole wrote. “Kids who are buying his shoes probably want to purchase a little piece of Curry’s greatness, no matter what brand he is associated with.”
