Build you up to break you down. The turn on Steph was expected but this is still funny to see how fast ppl will turn on you.
It is sad man. But then again, he should have never been up that high to the point where people were saying he was better than LeBronze.
In all fairness, LeBron played at a level during the playoffs that he was not playing at during the year.  Most specifically, LeBron's defense was absolutely comical during the regular season.  His shooting was pretty pathetic too.  So people were reacting to that.  I would say it was an absolutely fair thing to do.  Bron turning it on during the Finals definitely silenced those naysayers.  But during the season, someone saying Curry has become the best player on the planet was warranted.  No one knew LeBron still had this in him.

This is my thing. All of this Top 5 people; if LeBron has a worse regular season next season, are you still going to be singing that same tune? It is easy to say all of this Top 5 stuff NOW because the moment is Fresh in our minds. It is easy to put him above all of these all time greats (Not saying I agree or disagree) NOW because the Cavs just put in work.

This thread needs to be revisited in 8 months to see how people feel about him.

I don't expect everyone to out Bron number 2..but if he isn't in your top 5...I don't know how you can really justify that. Titles shouldn't be used to determine greatness they should be used as tie breakers or add ons when the discussion is close imo.

If you said top ten I'd probably agree. Definitely can see how he is left out of a top five right now. Not absurd at all. Not absurd to have him in there either

If you go back and look at him move defensively in the PORT and OKC series, you can tell it still bothered him. Even though he was on point offensively.

Not sure how that is ABSURD that the injury could have influenced his performance (coupled with Cavs hounding him, which they did), but of course this is NT and we have to speak with extreme vocabulary.

I am sure in a few days, news will be released about his body breaking down in the Cavs series. That is how it usually happens.
The same OKC series where he switched onto Durant and made a game-sealing strip in G5, prompting the reporter to ask Durant if Steph was underrated defensively?

The same OKC series where Synergy had him holding Westbrook to 8/25 shooting?

Like, what?

Being hurt can come in ebbs and flows, and a good performance doesn't mean he didn't play while uncomfortable. I've yet to see someone say that is why the Warriors lost but it isn't that wild to think he didn't fully heal and as he continued to pound in the playoffs his body wasn't feeling the pain

Thanks for articulating that, it seems to be hard for people to grasp the concept of pain coming and going.

Lebron (still playing)

3x champ
3x finals mvp
4x mvp

>

Kobe (retired)

2x champ (without shaq as Finals mvp)
2x finals mvp
1x mvp

Lebron easily top 5 ALREADY

This was the only reason I did not want Lebron to win. Fanboys like this. Yeah lebron is a great player. Is he top 5? not right now. is he top 10? not right now. Dude has 3 ships from how many final appearances?

He's a great player. I take nothing away from him. But hes far from Top 5. Hell I dont even put KOBE as a top 5. KOBE is top 10 IMHO

MJ
MAGIC
KAREEM
BIRD
WILT
RUSSELL
KOBE
DUNCAN
SHAQ
BIG O

Fanboy? I'm a fanboy for Lebron?! Ok. I just love the fact that the kid put on an all time great show so all of these ******* haters can get off of the kid's back. I'm 43. I've watched a lot of those players that some of you only saw on video. The hatred, nitpicking, scrutiny this kid has received is unprecedented. The rule is, once you win a ring, you're good. People back off. MJ used to catch heat. He wasn't a winner. He would never be Larry/Magic. Didn't make his teammates better. Once he won his 1ST ring, people backed off. You're a champion. This kid? He wins and people still take shots. I don't understand it. Fools saying he sucks, he's this, he's that. Let me tell you something about your list up there. ALL of them have played in numerous playoff series. NONE of them have led it in points, rebounds, assist, steals, and blocks. None of em. The kid put on a historical performance to beat a historical team that had a history making MVP on it. I'm tickled pink for him. He can shove that **** in their faces and they can't say ****!!!!

Personally, my favorite player is MJ. I love the way that he changed his game as his otherworldly athleticism started to decline. But I'm a fan of the game. I've watched the game. It makes me chuckle when people say MJ would destroy Lebron. Uhhh, did you watch MJ when he had to guard big, physical guards? Did you see when he played against Mitch Richmond, Nick Anderson, etc? They gave him problems. Did you see him have to switch off of a young Penny Hardaway because he couldn't guard him. Flat out couldn't. Pip couldn't do much better to tell you the truth. MJ was human. He was a great player, probably the best, but he had bad games. He had tough shooting nights. The biggest indictment against him in my book? His damn team almost goes to the ECF without him. They win 57 with him. 55 without him. Anyway you slice it you're on a great squad. You're a great player but you were on a great squad. How do you compare that to Lebron? When he leaves, his team wins......the lottery.

Everyone on that list can be scrutinized in one way or another. Be it the era they played in, the team they were on, etc. All I can go by is what I've seen of Lebron and what I've seen of the people on your list. Lebron James would give everyone on that list hell. They'd give him hell too, but it definitely wouldn't be one sided. Chad Ford, he of draft guru fame, on Mike &Mike while arguing with Greenberg was asked who he thought was the best basketball player in the history of the league. He said MJ was the best scorer. He said the most complete basketball player in the history of the league is Lebron James. He said he does more things at an all star level than anyone in the history of the league. His opinion, but I respect it. As I said before, MJ is my guy. He's my favorite player. I won't argue with anyone who has Lebby in their top 5. He's one of the best players I've ever seen. Coming back from being down 3-1 against a 73 win team? Legendary stuff....anyway you slice it

Cats really thought they had a case of Curry being the best after a regular season blowout...

If you're gonna go there, why don't you disregard Lebron's championships without Kyrie or Dwyane?

If we did an all time draft. It would be hard for me to pick any anybody other than LeBron after Jordan. Shaq would be a top 5 too

How many mvps/finals MVPs did wade and kyrie win while playing with Bron?
You went and put finals MVP directly underneath x champ. You might as well just completely disregard x champ altogether and just count MVPs if that's where you're trying to get at.

Both finals mvp and mvp are INDIVIDUAL achievements. A ring is a TEAM effort.

3 finals mvp > 2
4 mvps > 1

Right but you wanna take 3 rings away from Kobe because they were with Shaq. It's the same thing as taking Lebron's last ring away from him because it was with Kyrie and his 2 with Miami because they were with Dwyane.

It's crazy you guys are so quick to call him goat after Sunday but not when he won his first title in Miami. Miami Lebron >>>>> Cavs Lebron and it's not even close.

literally the same damn player, only the circumstances were different

NONE of the injury talk happened until they went down 3-1 against the Thunder & fans were looking for excuses because apparently it's impossible for Steph Curry to have a bad game otherwise.

He, and everyone else actually involved with the outcome of the games, immediately dismissed all the injury talk. But you dudes are adamant that he was hurt. It's comical.

He's a 2 time MVP, he doesn't need anyone making up excuses for his poor play. He didn't play well, not because he was injured.

No Lebron was the best player on the team during all this rings

Kyrie and wade were never better than Lebron

Kobe was only finals mvp 2/5 rings he won.

In this comparison:

Lebron = Shaq
Kobe = Kyrie/Wade

By what INDIVIDUAL metric is Kobe > Lebron?

Jordan
Duncan
Bird
Magic
Lebron
Shaq
Kareem
Hakeem
Wilt
Russell

Kobe

No way he's in top 5 or 10

Lebron is easily a top 5 player. I have him behind MJ on my list. (I'm excluding centers). The fact that he can do so many things on an elite level is what makes him great. And he has proven that he can carry teams solo. Whatever team he plays for is an instant contender- no matter who else is on the roster. That's what puts him ahead of Kobe in my book- LeBron makes the entire team around him better where as Kobe was selfish and tried to do it all himself.
