OG air max 98 still wearable ?

Hello,
I don't really know wher to post this, sorry if it's the wrong place..
I'm about to buy deadstock air max 98, but the seller says air bubbles are fogging and the midsole is sticky. Do you think I will be able to solve these problems ? Do some of you have some og am 98 and can still wear them ?

Surprised no one replied.

I wouldn't buy them, and your hesitation and questioning makes a lot of sense.  Old shoes are old.  More often than not, they are not suitable for wear.  These are the cold facts.

Good luck.  The AM 98s are very popular to low key individuals who understand them, but you shouldn't buy an old pair.  Just buy the retros.

Thank you for your answers,
I will follow your advices, but won't buy the retros since they didn't retroed the blue white red (gundam) colorway, which is the only one that I like...

A lot of people feel the same way.  I am one of them.  The older retros like 97, 98  aren't as popular.  Hopefully next time they will do the colorway.
 
You can use a hair dryer to get rid of the fog.

Also, the fog might just be on the surface/outside of the shoe. I have a pair of chicago Air Max Penny's from 200 or 2001 that I still wear, bubbles still intact, and the outside of the air bubble stays foggy.
 
That foggyness is a result of moisture getting into the air bubble somehow though.

Thats why on XIII's the hologram will fog because moisture from sweat is able to penetrate into the hologram eye.

Well looks like someone just said the other day that it's OK sometimes.  This was always bad news in my experience though.  Then again I've really only taken the time to verify that it was present with shoes that were like 15+ years old.

I don't know about foggy air bubbles, but the adhesive or shoe glue loses its bond over time.  The midsole material is another thing in itself.  Some midsoles are prone to crumbling, while others last longer.

Foggy air bubbles are just an indicator of age. 

I wouldn't use the hair dryer method, because heat can actually hurt the glue more.  I have used WD40 to wipe the bubble and that's good enough for me.

That makes sense. I've heard about it over the years; never tried it myself.
 
If the seller said that the midsoles are sticky, that is a sure sign that they are about to crumble. Anyone who has ever felt a crumbled midsole knows that "sticky" feel. There is no way to fix it (besides a midsole swap).
