Plantar Fasciitis pain

Fam you gotta make sure you stretch regularly. I got the shot and was moving like a gazelle. But I didn't take care of myself and I lost the diddy bop for months

Has anybody ever had their PF go away or is this something people are stuck with?

As mentioned I've been dealing with a case but when jumping or running...I don't experience any pain when I'm casually walking (even after several miles).
My PF went away after time. But that was through daily morning stretches and rolling a PVC pipe of golf ball under my foot.

I've heard if it's a severe case, more measures are taken.

After limping and suffering for months and months, I started taping and doing a treatment with cold and a wrap called the BFST. It took a month and a half of consistent treatments, 3-4 times a day, but I was back on my feet, no more limping! It hasn't come back since. I didn't do any stretches as I know how sensitive the fascia is to over-stretching and tearing.

Mine went away after about 6 months. Just a ton of rest and stretching bruh.

Copped some custom orthotics and some Brooks Beasts.

And eventually I was 100%. It's odd that you say you didn't experience any pain while walking because I felt it like crazy while walking.

I need to look up how to tape up the foot when PF comes back...I swear that is the one injury I always have.

So far so good I've had the cortisone shots and I still feel like a young KG. Knock on wood, no wear off yet.

I know what your going through :frown: Have you been doing any cold therapy? If not, definitely start doing that...especially after being on your feet. It will make a huge difference. Look into the wrap i posted about as well. It got me healed up within a month and a half...no more limping! Wishing you the best.

Be careful with getting a lot of cortisone shots. Not only do they mask the pain and let you believe you're fine enough to put a lot of strain on it (which usually it's not), but it can also eventually lead to rupturing the fascia. Here's some interesting info.

Eeeee...7 years...i'm so sorry to hear that :frown: It definitely can be healed. The plantar is a hard one though because of the lack of blood flow to the area. I left it for about 7 months and if anything it just got worse. That's what made me finally do the treatment I did. Orhotics are great for preventative measures but if you do use them during, just be careful during your treatment time that they aren't stretching the plantar too much. This can cause more damage and delay the healing process more.
Like I said, it is on and off. I do a good job of treatment. I warm it up before I hoop.  I ice my feet and ankles when I am done in a bucket.

Some months/days are worse than others. Like right now, I don't feel anything and I have ran 4 days this week.

Also learned some fascii stretches from my yoga sessions

Yea don't get too many of those shots. Steroids decrease the inflammation but they also lead to breakdown and rupture of the fascia. It's usually used as a last resort.
Yea pain exists for a reason. Ignoring it might not be a good idea.

I just can't believe how much doctors push cortisone shots. I sometimes think they will do anything to ensure surgery. Big bucks there.

I hate Plantar Fascia so much. Especially, waking up in the morning and feeling that pain. Smh.

anybody use night splints?...supposedly keeps your feet from pointing when you sleep, which causes the tendons to tightens

Eeeeee. I wouldn't recommend using a night splint. I wouldn't recommend using anything that stretches the fascia. I didn't do a single stretch on my foot and I healed it completely in a month and a half. I did the 2 main treatments I've mentioned above....with NO stretching....and it hasn't come back. Here are the common myths about plantar fasciitis....it's quite interesting how common these are.

Bumping this topic instead of starting a new one...hopefully can get some advice.

So the last several months when I first get out of bed my feet hurt once I start walking. Right worse than left. Feels somewhat better once I have shoes on. Tends to not bother me much after a few hours. Ache at end of day once barefoot again. Pain localized under foot moreso towards heel and in the arch.

The pain in the right foot is just behind the ball of my foot in a spot I can locate (didn't realize was a specific spot until a few days ago) and also toward the front of my heel. Looking at symptoms online I suspect it is likely Plantar Fasciitis?

Have decided to try and do something about it this last week.

- Purchased 2 set of orthotics that specifically say PF on them. One is Dr. Scholls and other is ProFoot. The ProFoot set is a little thicker and won't fit every pair of shoes so I got the Dr. S as well that's lower profile.
- Purchased a TheraBand Foot roller to use.
- Purchased heel spur pads I can use on shoes that would be too snug with the larger orthotics.

Have been using the roller for a bit in am and pm.

Have been stretching my toes up before getting out of bed.

Any other suggestions or maybe even a different diagnosis? Anything would be appreciated and taken into consideration.

Personal info if it matters: 5'11. 250 lbs. Not athletic by any means. On foot a decent amount during the day. If I'm not in public I tend to be barefoot even outside. Used to wear flipflops/sandals alot. Put on about 20 lbs in the last year.

It could be a sever case of Fascia due to the weight gain (not making fun, I too have added weight and have dealt with this issue on my left foot).

Maybe try wearing cushioned slippers at home? So you're not walking on your hard floors?

But if it continues to linger more than before, get your foot checked out. It could possibly be a bone spur as well.

I got on an aspirin plan and got these.

Will check into those. Do they fit comfortably in most shoes?

I've been taking Aleve. Unable to take Tylenol due to sensitive liver. Have been advised to avoid aspirin as well.

I really need to lose the weight I've gained. With achy knees and two back surgeries and now the feet as well my athletic ability is comprised.

I've been wearing Crocs while at home (they are hideous but my feet don't hurt while wearing them).

I've considered the possibility of a spur. My wife knows someone who had one and got it removed. It came back with a vengeance later.

Appreciate both responses!

I believe my pain on my left heel is due to bone spur. But, I'm with you, brother. I need to lose more weight and get back to getting active because my knees and heels kill me.

And wearing Crocs at home do help. Whatever you need to do to relieve the pain and stress off your feet.
