Why team Jordan's are falling into hype

I belive that buying flights jump man pros Melos cps fusions even son of mars and spizikes are a way of falling into hype. That's brand hype. People like to say I got jumpman on my feet. But why not get a pair of kds air maxes or Air Force 1s all the shoes I just mentioned are cheaper or at least same price as some of the team Jordan's out there. I'm not bashing team Jordan's I love spizikes and son of mars but what I am saying is why not wait until there on sale or get them for less on eBay or even a sneaker boutique.

I don't like team Jordan because "his airness" didn't even wear it, and there just usually ugly copycats or fusions.
 
My thing isn't even about him wearing them because I do like Jordan flagship models past the 14s it's about a most of them are ugly and b there the same price or less as some other respectable shoes also yes fusions are atrocious

most if not all the new ones are ugly as sin but the old ones are fire and he did wear a couple of those. I agree that the people buying them now are mainly just looking to get some "jays". that's how it's been for the last 5 years at least people who aren't very knowledgeable about jordans think anything with a jumpman is cool jays and makes them fit in. It wasn't till the last maybe 3 or so years that a MASS amount of people started copping retros, and I guarantee you a huge chunk of those people were once the people we are talking about who cop team jordans just because they're "jordans". Also, I don't believe people with this mindset pay full price for them. That's one of the reasons they buy them is price and a lot of times they are on sale at the stores.
 
I checked foot locker and The cheapest pair of a pair of nike was an airforce 1 for 50 dollars and the cheapest one was an air Jordan 1 strap for 60 dollars. In the 50-100 dollar range most of them were airforce 1s and some lunar force 1s also air maxes and a fly stepper and they looked so much better then all of the Jordan's on sale so why not just get the Air Force 1s Ive seen Clarence sales on lebron 12s where it was 100 dollars do if there the same price why not say no I'll get the air max 90 it's a nice clean classic shoe that's why people are falling into jumpman hype rather why not tell people who don't know you should get the air forces instead I would do it for advice or even as a sales person because more compliments will be given and the person would be more likely to return to my store
 
Team Jordans aren't for sneakerheads, they are for people who are sneaker naive but still want to own a pair of jordans. People wearing Teams might be able to flex on people who know nothing about kicks but we know better.

that's not a very good pic of them, seems like a small size and not laced well but those are fire imo. I had the white pair but the black pair is cool too.

It's kind of the opposite actually. new "sneakerheads" and hypebeasts are only focused on the retros because that's what everyone else has established as cool. but some true sneakerheads who have been into the brand for quite some time appreciate the good team J's, especially the older ones. I'm gonna guess around maybe 2006-2007 is probably when we saw the last decent team J can't really remember off the top of my head when that all died down into what team J's are today (fusions basically).

Here is a few memorable team J's IMO. There's really too many to count so i'll just grab 5 off the top of my head. again, the newer people probably won't like them and that makes sense why they wouldn't. The market right now is driven off of hype. these shoes were never put on a pedestal like the signature line is. the average person probably has never seen or remembers any of these shoes... but the SNEAKERHEAD who actually has had a genuine interest in shoes most of their life will at least remember them.

Sadly it's a lot harder to find clean pics of these shoes than the sigs

camp23 pack came with sandals and a bag. I'll never forget first seeing this shoe on court. It looked dope when running different directions it looked like you were wearing 2 different shoes.

Jumpman swift 6 very dope team shoe worn by the man himself. I like the white pair better but couldn't find a quality pic.

Team fbi this one was pretty well liked and rightfully so. also game worn by the man himself.

jumpman vindicate another very dope, quality shoe. personally had the white/green cw but I can't find a good pic

Really I could go on and on with this list if I felt like it but you get the idea. I would take any of the shoes in this thread so far over any retro 3,4, or 11. Flame away.

I've only seen MJ wear the swift6 in those failed MVP dot com instruction videos, but the shoe itself was Eddie Jones' shoe i'm sure you know. pro quick, quick 6, and swift 6 are three of my fav JB sig for players.

just soooo nice

plus the fact that Melos and CP3s are signature shoes of Jordan Brand, not Team Jordans. even the Super Flys are actually now Blake Griffin's signature shoes.

smh, this is exactly what a hypebeast would say. true sneakerhead wouldn't look down on others if they were wearing team Js. they appreciate.

It's disappointing that most of the team J's will probably stay in the vault in our lifetime

. And the rare occasions they do bring them back so far they have butchered pretty much all of them. The jumpman pro had no translucent sole and fake CF print.. also a freaking vertical jumpman like come on

. super freak retro had no moss branding and trash leather. they added terrible contrast stitching to the pro strong

. recent team 1 retro looked kinda meh leather wise but I never saw them in hand. If they did bring out the swift 6 chances are it would have nowhere near that same "buttery" leather which would kill the shoe imo.

If team J's retro they have to be quality. they can get away with it on the sigs because those have such a strong backing and history. But when they skimp on the team j's they just look cheap and unappealing. Not sure how making a shoe worse is going to help popularize it.

Yeah now days it seems like they are trying harder to attach the shoes to specific players. I always thought of the old player sigs as Team J's because they are on team Jordan. The term was sort of interchangeable but now they specifically market them hardcore for each player to make them more popular.

i guess we used to call them team Js because back then when there was a signature model for certain players most of the time they didn't attach their names to them and gave it a series of shoes. i think it was because back then Jordan Brand was just starting out and they only picked out the exceptional players to represent team jordan. nowaday anyone and everyone is sponsored by JB and only the likes of Melo, CP3, BG, and Westbrook has the popularity and ability to market these shoes. 

and you are definitely right about quality of the team shoes they retroed.

Honestly, I think team js are for people who wear js just because there jordans. There also cheaper then most good quality retros.
 
Another one that just crossed my mind, the Jumpman All Star. I really love this shoe. Chances are if we're not seeing the 15s retro much we won't see these either

. I think this style tongue worked a lot better here though. not so oversized and the upper suits it better. the 15 has too many major textures with no real flow to it imo.

Meh, I don't really follow hype all THAT much but still I will admit to purchasing pairs purely out of hype and resell value. I will stand by my opinion, the ones you guys posted aren't bad at all and look pretty good but team's NOW are garbage except select few IMO. It may also do with the fact that JB is puking out so many teams that there is such a huge influx of them that the good ones get drowned in trash. Nike is guilty of that all through their silhouettes though and some people will buy anything purely for the brand.
