Here's the thing...

The original shoe that started the "ban" campaign from David Stern and Russ Granik in 1984-'85 was the Black/Red Air Ship that MJ wore during the pre-season against the New York Knicks around October 15-18, 1984. In Feb of '85, Granik wrote a letter addressed to Nike that they were going to prohibit "the wearing of certain red and black Nike basketball shoes by Chicago Bulls player Michael Jordan..."

The actual "banned" shoe was NOT the Air Jordan 1. It was the Nike Air Ship, a shoe that has never been retro'd.

Wouldn't that be something if the pair that releases on 9/3/16 is an OG remastered version of the Black/Red Nike Air Ship that MJ rocked in '84 instead of the Banned 1s that dropped in '11 or the Black/Red 1s of 2013. Instead of calling it "Nike Air Ship", they should simply called it "Air Jordan Banned OG," because it is in fact literally an "original."

At the end of the day however, I'm still thinking Nike is going to release the Banned 1s that dropped in '11, simply because the 2011 release was originally planned to be somewhat of a GR but because of production issues Nike had to scrap it and turned it into a super limited last minute drop which explains why every pair was a B-grade and only available at Nike outlet stores. 5 years later, Nike will right the wrong and make the Banned 1s widely available to the masses.

That would be funny if JB released the actual banned Air Ship. I do hope they release the "Banned" edition of the AJ1 that released in 2011. I know JB can re-release whenever they want, but it just seems odd that they'd once again release the "regular" AJ1 Black/Red only 3 years after they released them in OG form in 2013. So I hope your thinking turns out to be true.

2016 is the 20th anniversary. Mark my words, were getting Concords next Christmas. Higher patent cut, correct jumpman direction, NA on the insole, thicker leather at the ankle, correct toe box. If Im wrong Ill never post again. I feel like they're doing this because of Phil Knight calling it a day. Either Mark Parker is the f'n man or Knight is still in charge atm and they're clearing out the classics before he hands over the keys. 

I realize they released at the end of 95 but if they release in 2016 its still within the anniversary year. I feel like they meant to do concords this year and 72-10 next year but had to switch up for whatever reason/s.

Jordan was tryin to sell his whole collection I believe....he pays good money for some of em to..guess it hit him they all gonna eventually rot and cost a fortune to restore

Pretty sure the OGs will know where and who this comes from. Regardless, to clear up some of the rumors about the Blk/red 1 coming in 2016:

The first person to comment on this release had seen a sample remastered Blk/red NA OG HI 1 this past spring, and knew Fall 2016 was the planned release time (Side note: he was told Royals scheduled to be remastered mid to late 2017 in the same preview). Said quality was great, compared them to SBB's when those released. Better than new Chicago's/UNC's remastered pairs, not not quite 2011 Banned level or as distressed styled. Dino posted about a bred 1 coming in fall 2016 with a style number a couple months back and the blogs jumped on it and said it was Banned 1's. Everyone started sharing that and it died down. A few days ago, J23app loaded a bunch of release dates and info, with the bred 1 being one of the items. All of the blogs tried to confirm a banned 1 retro based off of that. That is not the case. The release is a remastered OG 1 High. J23 did not say it was a retro of the 2011 banned 1. He doesn't want blogs saying that he is the source of confirming this shoe is a Banned 1 retro. No source information points to that at all and there is a real sample remastered OG bred 1 Hi and no real sample Banned 1 retro. The description of "Banned" is in a computer system that showed the same description in December 2013 as well. Just like people in forums and social media sometimes call all versions of bred 1's "banned 1's" as if it were the name of the colorway.

It was Dino, I remember when he posted the picture on Instagram:

I was right after all, others have said it is most plausible that it's the original Black and Red 1s also
 
So back in 2015 when they were saying this was the New frag sample

it was really the 2016 bred sample?

A sample is just that, a sample. There's prob a few different bred samples out now and those were from earlier/mid 2015

No shade just pointing out the flaw in your conclusion.

I remember seeing the size tag and all that extra

but never saw the Lightning logo

I said I and others were right about the Black and Red 1s not the "Banned" 1s releasing.  I posted the photo because it could have been the person he was talking about.

ur getting ahead of urself nostradamus, nothing has been confirmed yet....dino ain't god, he's been wrong plenty of times
 
The leather in the pics looks just like the 2013's in that pic above, if they aren't them already.


Gonna wait for official pics before getting too excited, again, which I did already from the jump :lol:
