Leaving the car running & unattended in residential neighborhoods?

Was at my mom's place. Doing my thing, then heard a car pull up to the street.
It was a Maserati.

This dude (i presume it was a guy) (has that korean male pop star cut, with some overcoat straight out of the dressing better thread) proceeds to walk out of his car with some little gift bag in his hand.

To my dismay, this dude left the door open, the Maserati still running. He had to be gone for at least 3-4 minutes.
I'm guessing he just went to the door of that house.
But there's no sightlines from that house's door to where he parked.

Do it all the time

Live in a normal neighborhood and got nothing to worry about

Ever since my parents and I moved to a more quiet neighborhood over a year ago and now have a driveway, I take full advantage of starting the car before I get in and drive. Really clutch come winter time so it warms up.

My dad has been warming up his car (while leaving it unattended) for decades. Never had a problem. Of course, he's always lived in a good neighborhood that isn't full of scumbags. That helps with the whole not-getting-your-car-stolen thing.

this girl I worked with got her car stolen the day before her bday..all she did was turn the car on and ran back into the house to get something she forgot..she was gone for literally a minute lol...she comes back her car is gone..

[thread="640167"]I can probably leave my trunk open for the night in my neighborhood and still have everything in it untouched come morning time. [/thread]

Sometimes I leave the car running when I run inside 7-11 to get some blunts or rubbers... Probably not the smartest idea, but oh well

I do it all the time at the gas station, but remote start is clutch in the winter.

I remember a teen getting killed a few winters ago for tryna hop in a mans car who was warming it up for work.

during the day, i don't see a problem but not at night...

suburban folk are adamantly against street lights so someone could just jump out of the shadows and there goes your car...
