If we're treating lightsaber battles like sword fights then nah SW hasn't gotten it right. It's not about cgi.
For one example, just look at what Into the Badlands on AMC manages to accomplish on a weekly basis. That level of fighting isn't some new or special for the show. It's been doable in movies for decades.
The fights in the OG were pretty pedestrian for 1977. On par with hand to hand fights on Star Trek
Prequels were obviously better but still, eh. Don't want to jump to another extreme with frantic light shows. It's w/e at this point.
