Zuckerberg to donate 99% of FB shares; $45B

Thoughts? Zuckerberg is a G a la Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. This has little to do with tax evasion and much to do with giving back as much as they can to the world. It's awesome.

It's not like dude is giving up his shares all at once… he's planning on donating 99% of his shares over the course of his life.

Lol, you can't be that naive. None of those are good people.

advance human potential" and "promote equality" for all children in the next generation, Zuckerberg begins the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
The tax evasion couldn't be more apparent.

This "loophole" really needs to be closed. If someone wants to donate money to charity it needs to at least be an arms length donation so the person can't donate the money, receive a tax benefit and also direct the funds.

It's the same thing Bill & Melinda are doing, Warren Buffet did, & the Clinton's are doing.

You do realize the alternative to "tax evasion" is that he keeps all that money and none goes to charity. Or, as it's commonly referred to, "being Steve Jobs."

No, an alternative would be to actually donate money as oposed to transferring funds into a tax free foundations whose finances are controlled by whoever he sees fit. It's generational wealth preservation. Those inheritance taxes are hefty.

Can't believe people fell for this david and goliath story they pushed to get facebook in the spotlight.

You can't fool me with that BS story about a kid in a dorm copying myspace and coming out ahead. Dude is a pawn being used by the government to have unprecedented info and access to people without them even knowing it.

Again, the alternative is the world sees none of this money. Then again, Steve Jobs became a demi-god and he was a greedy a-hole. So maybe the key to your legacy is NOT giving away money and having people call you a heartless tax evader.

Such a broke boy mentality to try and discredit someone doing something good just because they also benefit from it.

It's called smart business

I'll wait til I see the good you assume will come out of this, because he said so apparently.

It's called illegal actually.

No, the alternative is if he wants to get the tax deduction from the donation, he can't donate it to himself. I'm about as anti-tax as most people, but some of the loopholes are so apparent. I fully believe that non-profits should exist to serve the better good of society and we should get tax breaks for it since the government much more inefficient than the private sector. But don't allow someone to not pay taxes because they create a foundation that they run and direct the funds from.
