Engagement Vol: Its Time

lol @ tiffany. you getting ripped off. you're not paying for the quality of the stone, you're paying for the name. look up 2ct diamonds on blue nile.
You aint the clearest stone of the bunch are you? Did I say I was copping from Tiffany?

I already told you Tiffany is marked up ~30% due to branding/name… But they're known for high quality (in addition to a major premium).

So go take a look at their 2 ct stones and then take 30% off, then holler.

lol @ clearest stone. i'm saying tiffany is a bad reference point to start from because their mark-up is horrible - worse than 30%. i read an article somewhere that a certified gemologist compared a 1ct diamond from tiffany to a stone from another place in comparable size, color and clarity and the difference in price was about 10k less  can't even imagine the price difference on a 2ct stone. if you have something in mind like size, cut, clarity etc. look it up on blue nile.

i'm not against paying for the tiffany name though. other people might place a high value on the name, status and experience of getting a tiffany diamond and that's fine for them. just don't think that the stone you're paying for is actually better than a stone you can get for cheaper elsewhere.

My advice is to just head to a jeweler shop with ur girl
Browse to see which ring type she like as well as have her try it on
Then tell her to check her ring size
Make a mental note of all things then come back later in the week to buy
That's what I did
I proposed at Disneyland this past August during the fireworks show
In the middle of a crowd
She was in tears
I was nervous as **** before and while proposing

That's dope bro. Congrats! All my homies that have done it said they were nervous as hell too! Haha I can't imagine the nerves I'd be feeling.

Do you have an idea of her ring size? I think the standard they have on display is usually a 7. If you have to special order for her size it may be a few weeks turn around. Good luck. Hopefully you find something nice and get it back before you guys leave!

Thanks , btw what do you guys think of this one? just looking for opinions

I was ready to propose and was going to pop the question on Christmas. But given the health state I'm in right now she felt it was right to propose to me, so on 11/24 she proposed. She's awesome and I didn't expect it, I won't lie it caught me off guard and I was surprised, but I know she's the one. Initially I was gonna get her a ring she wanted from Robbins brothers, but she changed her mind and wants a ring from (heidigibson.com). Didn't have a chance to meet with the lady before I was admitted to the hospital, they're nice but she wants to try them on to see if they're practical so we have an appointment with her tomorrow. My girl is cool she likes to see the money in the bank and not into materialistic things. So the max I'm spending is 4-5k, she would rather travel, and save up for our second home etc. She also went through the whole I don't want a blood diamond phase. I personally would buy her the diamond ring but she thinks it's crazy to spend over 5k for a ring, let alone what I pay for sneakers lmao but I love her lol. My advice don't try and out do the YouTube crowd just do you, that's who she's in love with. There's a video, but I'm not sure nt is ready lol

Such a rip off. I was looking at the rings there and some of them are 12k+ for 1ct when other stores have them for half the price or less

When a girl says, "That stuff isn't that serious to me" do you think it is BULL. Because no woman really wants to have a "weak"  ring when she is around her friends and family.

Of course it is.

My best friend and his now wife went looking when they were still bf gf.

Came down to 2 rings which were about 1k difference in price.

He got the cheaper one so they could put the 1k towards a home. She found it in his sock drawer and he came home to her balling crying.

He eventually spent the 1k extra.

In ur honest opinion
Is the girl a headache who he married
Or was that just a 1 time incident she had

That's so awful and I'm sure it made her fiancé feel like ****. But it's her fault for not saying that she wanted the more expensive one, but I also kinda get it. Girls don't want to be the one to pick a ring. They want the final decision to be the man's decision but you also want him to pick the right one and they may also be the more expensive one because he thinks you're worth the more expensive one. But when you think about the fact that he wants to put the saved money towards a home that he wants to find WITH YOU, it's kinda like, ok I get it.

Really ****** situation!

Would've left her *** right then and there

She's an OC sorority girl. All that needs to be said

Yeah. I actually went with him for the final pickup and was like... Dude, just do it if it's that big of a deal.

Would've left her *** right then and there :smh:

They have 2 kids, not really an option lawlz.

I remember hearing some girl at work saying the ring needs to be like 3-4 months of your paychecks.

Not gon be able to do it!

3 mths my ***. 1 month is more my range. I been looking and I might go to a local jeweler, will take my 3500 further.

3 months pay thing is just an advertising myth to get you to spend more lol I should be a jeweler them dudes are the finesse lords

lol there were a lot of chicks that said it means 3 months pre tax

Yeah I've heard both.

At the end of the day it's whatever you and the fiance are comfortable with.

Hell if you make 200k and spend 5k on the rock, good for you.

If your fiance really cares bout the size of the stone, why not look at the man made gems? Way cheaper and you're not supporting wars in Africa too.
