Hello NT,

(mods move to right area if needed)

I am doing a project on consumer-to-consumer e-commerce. Obivously, PayPal and eBay are the largest c2c markets, and I would like to know what complaints yall have and any suggestions to make them better, or a better alternative. Thanks

Lower fees, requirements for more pictures and better descriptions.

I am talking about eBay for example. I feel picture and description requirements would cut down on scamming and give buyers a piece of mind.
Lower fees would help sellers provide lower prices to consumers.

thanks man did not consider pictures

I would say having a flat rate would be better than a percentage. The fees are what makes me not want to use them.
i considered that but c2c e-commerce encompasses more than shoes so a fee of like $20 would be pointless for say a domain name. i would rather have a flat rate tho whats your suggestion?

The majority of what is sold on eBay are tangible goods. Automotives would need to be treated separately.

But for the mass sales of goods let's say $1/listing regardless if it sells or not. eBay would still make a lot of money and it would be easier for users to understand.

For the PayPal side of things, how about $2/transaction?

I realize having incremental increases such as "sells for $100 or less then $1 fee" and "sells for $200 or less then $2 fee" ect. would result in more profits for eBay the sellers would just game the system to their advantage like they used to do on shipping charges before they started being included with sale price. We all know a pair of shoes doesn't cost $100 to ship in the US. I don't care what service you use.

I feel a flat rate isa functional idea. If you were to put a For Sale/Classifieds ad in your local newspaper it will likely cost you a certain rate. You accept that up front knowing you lose that $5 regardless.
