I couldn't take a guy serious that would proceed to marry my daughter without having a sitdown. I would also question her decision making.

I asked my now mother-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law for their blessing to marry my wife. Not surprisingly, mom-in-law was the one I was most nervous to talk to. :lol

My wife's dad passed away while she was young, but if he was still alive today I would've asked him.

Well I won't have a conversation with the parents before I have the same with potential wifey. And hope she relays the message. There opinion is void if shorty is down then she is down.

I ain't asking anyone who I want to spend the rest of my life on this earth with if it ain't the person who I'm spending the rest of my life with.

Absolutely 100% should let them know, even if they don't like you.

The only reason you wouldn't is if they aren't in her life.

Then I'll beat that ole box up like my name is Rahzel

Matter-of-fact, I'll have some Guinness in a gatorade bottle next to the bed in case I gotta re-hydrate.

Given I haven't considered this much since I don't ever plan on asking I'd say it depends on my relationship with the parents and more importantly the daughter's relationship with her parents.

From my reasonable perspective, if everything is at least decent on those two fronts I'd tell them I'm planning to ask. That's it really. They either gonna have to get down or lay down after I tell them.

The more I read stories and meet couples, the more blessed i feel, maybe is because I grew up with my wife and her parents known me since I was 17 but to me her mom is my second mother literally...even call her mom, hell if I'm to be completely honest me and mominlaw show each other more affection than even me and my own mom...lol

Seriously bros, I don't know how some of you can be so disconnected from your potential spouses family...her brother is my brother, her sister is my sister...we are pretty freaking tight.

You're a lucky Dad. I hope my girls choose men that ask for my blessings when the time comes.

My girlfriend's mom has been calling me her son and basically let me live at her house for a brief period of time. I think at this stage she'd threaten my life if she thought I wasn't going to marry her daughter laugh.gif

laugh.gif at a certain point in a case like yours, I'd expect the family looks at you with anxious eyes. They ever put the pressure on you to pop the question Nupe?

Always. laugh.gif Its not "really" pressure at this stage, I am still 23 after all and they know that. They just refer to her as Mrs. Yeah and talk about how incredible our wedding will be - it's already decided in their eyes, they're just waiting for us to make it a reality.

My dad jokes about it just as much since we've been living together. Anytime we talk his first question is always "So is she pregnant yet?" laugh.gif
