Did General Mills push the envelope with this commercial?

This commercial started a heated argument in my circle of peers. I saw this commercial as General Mills trying to touch on the topic of having children out of wedlock. Shorty didnt want her man to say "I am your father" because she knows that he's not the dad to her 2 children.

Other people I asked think that the kids are adopted.
Other people think that shorty didnt want him to spoil the Star Wars story for the children

Me, as a man, I think that General Mills was trying to out do campbells with this one. In reality, there's a lot of men out their fathering the children of a dead beat dad, so I think that's what they were trying to touch on

I thought she didn't want him to spoil the other Star Wars movies that the kids might have not seen yet.

i think its inappropriate to introduce children to star wars, but thats another conversation

About This Commercial
Description
A father is looking through a Droid Viewer that came in one of his kids' boxes of General Mills cereal. However, his children, dressed as Poe Dameron and Rey from the upcoming film "Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens," attempt to use a Jedi mind trick to convince him that it isn't the Droid Viewer he is looking for. The man is about to retort with Darth Vader's famous line, "I am your father," but the kids' mother steps in and prevents him from revealing the classic twist.

its funny doe because since ep viii takes place 30 years after rotj, why does it even matter about ruining the older movies, right?

Nothing much to think about with the commercial

Kodus to SW tho

We really soft if America is making this a topic

Just good Marketing

Do Yall peep the shot of the girl after shorty cuts her man off? They pan the camera to the girl because they want us to see her ethnicity. She clearly she has some Trinidadian or West Indan features. And correct me if I'm wrong, but none of those parents look Trini to me. Which leads me to believe that the moms was getting piped down on the side

Have none of your friends or you seen the movies?

Thats a direct reference to a key scene in the whole series.
