Official Final Fantasy Thread | XII is the GOAT

^Yeah, I'd like to hear an update about the game...Even though it'll be no surprise, if the game is delayed.

10PM release for me tonight. Already pre-loaded.

I heard the story is shallow as **** which sucks because that's always been the most immersive part of this game...I was really looking forward to playing this too :frown:

You may have been misinformed. Game is flames so far, if you like uncharted, kingdom hearts. Devil may cry, God of war etc... I don't see how you wouldn't like this. It plays like a mix of all of the above. Starts out slow but picks up well.

I'm 70 hours into Skyrim Remaster..and loving it..def can't play two RPGs at once..so when I get bored of Skyrim I will cop 15 and hopefully for a great price

Just got to the city where Gladius' sister is at, overall I have to say the game is aight so far but there seems to be a whole lot of slice of life filler type **** as opposed to high fantasy magic weapon badassdery. The combat system is enjoyable enough, but as I suspected I enjoy KH style combat much more. The traditional JRPG type **** in FFXV is fun and fulfilling and gives me pleasant flashbacks to FFX.

Also the car is annoying as ****. Having to sit through a long, uneventful drive just to get to the next quest or paying 10 Gil to fast travel...it's like SE was more concerned with making a 1080p CGI bishonen music video :x

I'm holding out hope that the game is just slow to start. But at this point I just feel like Western RPGs have overtaken JRPGs by a huge margin these past few years

I have the game. I could've played tonight but I want a huge chunk of time to just savor the beginning of the game so I'll just wait till Sunday.

Uh, I think maybe we DO need to watch the movie before playing this ****. The game drops you into the world (or the portion available in the first chapter) and assumes that you as the player know everything about everything, even when it comes to the Lucis/Nifflheim conflict, which is the entire basis of the narrative, you are given no real context or understanding of what is happening or why. There's a half-assed lore guide in the tutorial but even that is stuff that should have gradually become known to the player as they navigate the first chapter or 2.

I feel like there's barely any plot at least as far as the SE standard is concerned, no real draw to the narrative in the beginning, no Cloud and Barrett cracking skulls at Shinra to an iconic theme song, no Tidus flourishing at blitzball only for his world to end and him being flung 1000 years into the future type of **** happens.

It's like SE assumes that since we've been following the game for 10 years there's no real need for plot clarity.

Yall remember the E32013 trailer when this was first outed as FFXV? All that **** looked like it was what kicked off the plot right? Well when it actually happens cutscene-wise we only get snippets of what happened in the palace, and Noctis is not present period :smh:

Watch Kingsglaive. It gives you much needed context and it's actually a pretty decent watch. You can skip Brotherhood but I watched that as well. Gives you back story on Noct's friends. It's a quick watch.
