Gut Health!!! vol. from food allergies to anxiety

Why do some people like their probiotics refrigerated?
Because they are alive, they must be preserved. Refridgeration is an easy method but just because its not doesn't disqualify it as a quality probiotic. There are different, sometimes proprietary methods companies take to ensure preservation. I know one company does something called flash freezing.

I only consider probs that at least speak to probiotics arriving alive and if it requires refrigeration. If it doesn't require refridgeration, it must tell me why. What methods have been taken to ensure the living cultures are sustained. If it doesnt tell me why/how come, then I wont trust it. Also you want to see something regarding the probs surviving the gut. Has to at least make the claim it does, or be on time release. Had one that said 60% survive. I just appreciate the honest and fowardness. Im more likely to trust it than one that doesnt address that area.

HTG Designs. I see that you mention bananas as one food culprit that contributed to your child's leaky guy syndrome/eczema. Was it mainly because of it's starch content? Did you avoid giving her plantains/yams/sweet potatoes as well or what is only bananas? I'm still on the fence with what is considered "good starch" foods for me.

to be clear, it wasn't that the bananas contributed to her leaky gut. She developed a food sensitivity to the bananas because she was over-run with bad bacteria which created poor gut flora conditions and that is what caused the leaky gut. So she had that food sensitivity and would break out in hives, struggle to breath, and become really itchy when she ate bananas and products containing it. So we took her of it ( and got her tested for other foods she was sensitive to). We never had yams, but she could eat sweet potatoes, but not Irish/ regular potatoes.

I'm not versed on starches, to where I feel I can give advise on it. Only thing I can say is watch how you body responds to the different food you eat and how you feel after consuming certain food. We eat alot of crap that slightly bother us after. But in a week or so we go at it again and pay no mind to the after effects. That discomfort however so slight it may be, can be telling you something. We need to be better in tune with our bodies.

Subscribed! I ain't gon be living no second class lifestyle, bout to be walking around feeling happy as **** whenever I do anything just because I'm healthy.

If you really wanna swing for the fences, VSL#3 is a medical grade probiotic with 112 billion bacteria per capsule. Most hospital pharmacies sell it, no prescription required. It's in the refrigerator so ask them. Some other pharmacies stock it as well like Walmart, Costco. https://shop.vsl3.com/vsl3-capsules-60-count-p5.aspx?noredirect

This is what doctors prescribe for patients with REALLY jacked up guts... so it works. $60/bottle but you're getting what you pay for and your innards should be good for the year. One capsule a day is probably enough for most people.

My fiber content is money. I poop well usual two times a day if I have the time. Does this mean probiotics are unnecessary for me?

We all need probiotics on some level. You just might not need that amount. You might not need to take a probiotic supplement. Personally, I feel I get a good amount from yogurt, Kombucha and other fermented foods. I stay away from anything processed. I take a probiotic pill after I finished taken an antibiotic to repopulate. Maybe, other NT members can offer some other probiotics back by studies. Many are backed by anecdotal evidence so it's hard to tell if you're really getting what's on the bottle; let alone what will actually optimize your microbiome.

So since before this thread I have been researching/using/looking for the best pribiotic

and the sum of my experiences and research have brought me to this:

supposedly MOST probiotics avbailable on the market get broken down and digested in your intestinal tract before they even reach your stomach for optimum consumption (if you know anything about probiotics this is fairly common knowledge.)

This stuff is the real deal, and let me tell you it isnt cheap.

If your a member they sell it at costco for around $50, if you go through amazon its closer to $100 for a months supply.

its been said these "sachets" or powdered packets are IDEAL for digestion opposed to capsules

dont take my word for it though, try it out if you can fork over the extra dough...

Decided to take baby steps and ordered Hyperbiotics Pro 15 instead of the VSL 3. It's supposed to have incorporate a delivery method that keeps a reasonable number of bacteria alive through the digestion process. Anybody have any experience with it?

Personally didn't feel like it did much. But I didn't load up on it to start. Just take one as many days I remember to.

Somewhat true... comes down to efficacy of the probiotic of course. More importantly prebiotics. Without them, your body only has half of the answer.
