Lets talk about Martin Shkreli....

Hes not famous now? Oh.

Yall are right. Hes not a legend because hes a scumbag. And hes not on every major news outlet.... for the third time this month.

NT loves to worship horrible people

Legend my ****.

Guy is a disgrace of the highest order.

I cant stand these xanax popping, coke sniffing gordon gekko wannabe scums

Who is worshipping this dude? Or any other notorious people we are INTERESTED by... its really quite simple.

Met him back in 2010 through some people. I never got a good vibe out of him, but the people around him were giving him great praise for the work he was doing at the time.

Not surprised when I heard what he did with the HIV drug and def didn't pass me to hear what happened to him this morning.

I really don't think many people are interested in him...we're just all sitting back in awe of how hes able to make scumbag move after scumbag move back to back to back.

This guy doesn't fall in the same category with infamous people that intrigue me because of how they were able to accomplish terrible things. He hasn't done anything mind-blowing. He's a rich young dude who's throwing his money around and purposely being as pompous as he can possibly be. That doesn't interest me.

Don't get me wrong though. I'll continue to watch him crash spectacularly.

Take it from me--This guy is VERY articulate and bright. He's weird and gives out a lonely vibe, but that's what makes him seem "harmless" if you've never met him before.

I believe you...you can't be an idiot and accomplish what he's accomplished.

Whether or not he was using shady business practices is another topic, but yeah he's not an idiot.

I just really don't see his angle with most of the things he's doing. What could possibly be the end game to all of this. Do you think these are all calculated moves?

Hes a sociopath plain and simple.

The 10k he spent to sniff coke out of her "gf" cooch sure helped made him feel invincible

Is he a legend tho, hank?

That is indeed the most important question.

I don't know if any of these moves are what you consider "calculated", but I do believe he's partially doing all this to get some sort of attention and supplement his greed.

Guys like Warren Buffet, Peter Lynch, Martin Schwartz, George Soros, Dennis Gartman and Ari Kiev are legends.

This kid is more like a Stephen Cohen

Is Bernie Madoff a legend? These dudes are part of the reason I decided not to go into investment banking. They give the rest of the industry a terrible rep for being greedy scumbags who lose their true self by getting caught up in the money/drugs/lifestyle etc...

Low key think a lot of these young guys do just go insane from the amount of hours they put in and stress they go through. Then they just go on binges when they finally get some free time. It will suck the soul out of you. I've seen it happen to some people I knoew.

Hank you prolly seen this happen first hand to a lot of your associates. I'm not saying it's common place, but this is the reputation the industry has. How crazy is it really?

Madoff was a name I was trying to remember, but couldn't when I was trying to justify the 'legend' label in my mind.

Perfect comparison. The fact that I can't even remember his name a few years later says a lot.

More infamous than anything.

You only become a legend via infamy is by stringing it out for a long time like El Chapo. His criminal acts, arrest/imprisonment, escape can all be viewed as legendary.

Bernie Madoff is unfortunately considered a legend. But he was never a banker in his career. He was more of an investment manager than anything else, but I can see where you can make the connection with investment banking. A lot of the higher up guys live up to the profile.

From personal experience, I've seen a lot of people whom I used to work with completely lose it and some keep their heads in-place. It really depends on a lot of things and some luck is involved. I would say the most important thing is to watch who you surround yourself with, especially in high finance. They say the mentors and people responsible for your organic professional growth early on play a huge role in what you end up doing down the road.

In Martin Shkreli's case, he was just too bright for his own good and was suffering from a lot of personal issues. Kid moved up way too quickly. I'm younger than him and started a PE firm with some of my old mentors if that puts any perspective into this whole thing.
