ANY good's market value is determined by the demand and, in turn, the price people are willing to pay for it.

The high market value of a product is what makes them a status symbol.

Yeezys might have a low MSRP but they have a very high market value, as such. So even if you get lucky and cop for retail, you are leaving the money on the table had you sold them.. As someone else mentioned, some people cop to flip to pay rent because they need this money more than the shoes.

Not disagreeing with you. But I personally consider a Rolex, Patek Philippe or Cartier watch for example as a status symbol over a pair of kicks.

Ain't terrible. I personally wouldn't pay that right now. Just think roughly 20k more Yeezy's about to be in homie's hands. I'm gonna try and hold out to $400 if possible...

But let's just say a pair of Yeezy in the grand scheme of things is at the lowest tier of "status symbol" to be honest.

To be frank, if you need possessions to add symbol of status then either you're lacking confidence or you're only going to attract the whole kind of people.

I think i ****** up. I used my debit on one order but didnt get a confirmation email until 40 minutes after. Luckily i got in on my phone and used paypal checkout that has the same debit linked to it. Will both pairs get cancelled? I only placed the 2nd one because i thought the first order was one of those ghost charges every1 always get when payment freezes during checkout. Should i call adidas and have them cancel 1 to gaurantee my pair? Or will adidas cancel both if i call. help?

I'll be honest. To me, these are shoes are downright ugly. Ain't knocking fans of these, you see i'm just in it for the heck of it. 

I've yet to actually hold a pair, hence my curiosity. 

That's it; it's simply the intrigue, although i wouldn't be shocked if i sold em off.

Also, having expensive goods can sometimes be an indicator of financial success but you have the case of the dude wearing Yeezys on the train, as someone else mentioned, but I still think this is an outlier. Granted, I would judge someone's financial success more on the place they own and the car they drive than the sneakers they wear.

Yes definitely the case, but that is prevalent only the lower to mid segments where they actively try to validate and move upwards by trying to impress others.

Real successful people will grow pass that stage where they spend on things that give them better quality and comfort in life and not just impressing others.

Yeah they definitely are a higher class of status symbol, based solely on their value. The same thing could be said about a new Ferrari vs those watches.

At the end the day, what makes all of these things status symbols is their market value relative to other common goods in these respective categories (sneakers, watches, cars).
