been researching these for a while on and off.

last year my boss got one for his nephew as a graduation gift.

the other day i walked outside my friends house and seen one being flown around the neighborhood about 2-300 feet in the air no joke.

if youre familiar with drones/quadcopters then youve seen this model before.

it supposedly uses the same camera as a GoPro black series and is advertised as "4K"

trying to get some input from anyone who has one, used one or is really familiar with them.

ive been mulling over the purchase of one but the price tag of $1200 makes me wonder if ill use it a few times and forget about it or really put it to use.

i used to be into the RC gas car hobby so i mean i guess its a little similar with the exception that one can argue the DJI Phantom may be more of a photography hobby.

Been realllllly trying to holdback from buying a 3DR Solo, that thing is AWESOME....BH had a promotion where for 1200$ they give you a free GoPro4 black

3DR solo? i have to look into it, ive never heard of it before.

the only reason im familiar with the phantom is like i said my boss bought one and since then its pretty much the most popular one that comes up when you search drones or quadcopters.

and also from every review ive read or watched they say its the easiest to fly.

not trying to get frustrated over one of these things lol

i just think its dope that you can fly them so high and view your town or city or whatever from a view youve never witnessed before. the 4k camera is a plus

*In b4 the EWD thread jokes*

If it really is dude & not some weirdo pretending to be him, @FOUSEY  has a drone & son has got some real nice footage up on his YT channel.

I'm sure he could be of help to you regarding this subject.

EWD JOKES Coming.

But anyways, if I had a chance to get a drone, id get the one with auto pilot.

I'm not big on flying it cause I'll probably break it. But I would take this with me if I was snowboarding, or taking my truck off roading.

@ 0:38  my luck i would do that only mine would plummet all the way to the ground

I have the DJI Inspire 1. DronesETC also sent me the new Zenmuse X5 Camera which is $2,100 alone. I'm a HUGE fan of drones and have grown to be a hobbyist.

Will be back to this thread in a bit to talk more about it.

you had the phantom 3 pro until you broke it lol. thats basically what i was eyeing

tbh ive never flown a quadcopter before, any insight on that model.

btw the inspire you got is crazy dope.

@FOUSEY

I'd like to learn more about these top-shelf drones. Been spying a DJI Phantom since version 2 and while the hyper $1k price range is a lot....these things are dope as hell.

For those who own, like my man Praise the XI, how quickly were you able to become adept in drone flying?

Got a phantom 3. For me it's more about the film and pictures than the actual flying

It's very useful to get creative angles and shots

I recently got a Phantom 3 Pro not too long ago because I wanted to film more of my adventures with family and friends. Still getting used to it as it is my first drone but the shots it has taken is really amazing.

FAA requires you to now register your drone. https://registermyuas.faa.gov/

Time Out This Ain't The Real FouseyTube Guy.... Is It?

Regardless I was about to purchase 1 but dude at the store told me in my area I wouldn't be able to fly it much since the gps has A LOT of restricted air space... If I knew how to override it I would cop

Got a Phantom 3 Standard from the lady for Xmas.

scared to fly it too far/over water just yet

Our company has one the phantom 3 pro. We use it to photograph hard/dangerous to access roofs for the work we do.

Super easy to fly tbh. Just need about a day of flight time to get used to it. I crashed it once when it was a couple feet high and it took it well.

My cousin that works for a car magazine crashed one while up flying. It survived as well
