2016 "52 week money challenge"

i've been doing $1000 a month for 1.5 years. all of it is going to go towards a down payment for a place.

if i want to save for something else, i'll put even more into a separate account.
 
I'm doing x2 reverse minimum on a bi-weekly.

This week i had some extra $ and not alot of spending. Managed to put 500$ aside.

Feels good man
 
I haven't been able to put in because I don't carry cash anymore. But I went out to eat dinner with my cousins and I told them just hand me the cash and I'll put it on my card. It was about $360. So I'm just going to throw that in the box and start from that.
 
Keeping cash in a shoebox?

Come on guys this is 2016... Open a savings acct and transfer the money online.

I wanna feel like a gangsta though. I still have my box from last year and kinda forgot about it. Had stacks of 20s in there

So this may seem a little stupid but I got a box and taped that MFer up with some heavy duty tape and cut a slot in it and that's where I'm keeping my money. I would LOVE to keep it in a savings account and earn a little interest but savings accounts are so easy to transfer money to and from and I feel like I'd never leave the money alone. Anyways, this seems to be working and I'm actually making the deposits, so that's good

I've just been transferring over to my savings account but I might have to copy you on this.
 
I can't do it in an acct cuz is spend that money. I got a box that some shoes were shipped in, duct tape it up, cut a slot big enough so bills could fit and wala. I'm glad I started off throwing whatever change I had in there because these next 2 weeks ain't happening but I gotta be at like 60 right now.
 
I just decided to make a online savings account with ally bank, got $300 going in every two weeks when i get paid. Just set it and forget it.

Feels really good man. My girl and I have been excited discussing vacation ideas. Wanting to go somewhere tropical with the money from this challenge.
 
For all the guys stashing away cash in a shoe box or whatever. What if there's a fire, break in, or anything crazy like that.
 
To those recommending opening a separate savings account for this, which services do you suggest? I read ally, and barclays so far in this thread. Any others?
